Former Employee – worked at Dow Corning full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – flexible schedule, co-workers attitude to have everyone succeed, ability to be honest without any retribution, varied markets each with their challenges, the ability to have a varied career go from technical to marketing and back,
Cons – some of the internal procedures seem to take longer than I anticipated, sometimes a slow response for business decisions, sometimes the internal acronyms do not match industry,
Advice to Senior Management – it might be tough to attract seasoned talent after the last round of cut backs

Pros – Excellent people with diverse experience and good teamwork.
Proud history of innovation, excellence and growth.
Good benefits, compensation and work-life balance / flexible scheduling.
Potential for bright future and growth.
Cons – New leadership with unproven track record and need for more employee communication / sharing strategic vision.
Facing challenging business and economic issues.
Required changes in culture may be managed poorly (shift too far, lose historical strengths).
Advice to Senior Management – Communicate. Communicate. Communicate.

Ask for employee feedback and involvement more often.

Former Employee – worked at Dow Corning as an intern for more than a year
Pros – As an internship, you will be groomed into becoming a full-time employee. You will have responsibility and challenges which are on-par with those of full-time employees. They expect a lot out of interns, just as much as they do full-timers. If you can show dedication and competency, you will more likely than not be offered a full time job. This is an incredible opportunity to learn and grow with the company.
Cons – Sometimes the goals and expected performance are difficult while going to school full or part time (for year-round interns)
*The summer interns are given a project which should be completed during the summer.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the good work and while the economy allows, please continue to offer interns full-time positions!

Current Employee – been working at Dow Corning
Pros – the salary is competative with the best pcg firms. though dow corning is mostly b2b, its salary is above companies like P&G. the atmosphere from the people is great. everyone there enjoys their job and nobody feels like they have to work to an excess to get by.
Cons – its in midland michigan which is the middle of michigan. that beings said some people like michigan... im not one of them. midland is a very nice city but the soroundings.. like saginaw (we were housed just north of saginaw) has the highest violent crime rate/ capita in the country.
Advice to Senior Management – they should probably move their interns to a diferent location. saginaw was a little sketchy at times. other than that they have a really great program
