    Pros

I worked for a firm that was acquired by DPSG, and I felt that they extended the benefit of the doubt at every opportunity. They told us 6 months ahead of time who was going to lose their job and when, allowed those who were knowledgeable to be considered SME's in their field, and overall treated us with respect. I worked with the Supply Chain Infrastructure team, and really enjoyed it- It was sad to go at the end. Even after my separation, the group I worked with offered to be references, and I appreciated the opportunities to get to know each of them.

I didn't like certain decisions that were made, however, they answers that were handed down in these cases made sense, and I know I would have made the same call in those situations.

    Cons

Benefits. I admittedly had been spoiled by the benefits at the firm prior to the acquisition, but the benefits cost $10K (Not a typo!) MORE than I had paid under the previous firm. Irony was that I had been ramping up to ask that employer for a raise, but that was obviously no longer an option when they sold the company- So instead of a raise I effectively got a pay cut. Between the number of months and the amount of severance I received from DPSG, I ended up breaking even.

The only other issue at the firm across the board was the IT support. They have a 24-hour IT helpdesk, complete with ITIL-style change management, which is good- The problem is that there is little to no on-site support unless you are in the Plano HQ, and this makes it a fearful transition to those employees who need technical help- Many are hesitant to use the helpdesk because they are not used to working over the phone with someone with a different cultural base.

    Advice to Management

    Negotiate benefits better.
Maybe set up a small roving regional IT team to better service end users locally.

    Pros

Benefits, pay, schedule, opportunities for advancement

    Cons

Communication, A lot of mileage on your personal vehicle, very physically demanding

    Advice to Management

I would hire someone who's sole responsibility was to go to different routes and see how the stores are doing and allow more training for employees who may need it by what this person sees in the stores to raise our standards.

    Pros

Always improvements that can be made in this fast, paced manufacturing company. You will never be bored if you are self-motivated to find work.

    Cons

Management. Some managers treat employees with very little respect and are driven by emotion. I'm sure the employees who work directly under these managers have a different outlook on the company.

    Advice to Management

Respect and rapport go a long way. Empathize and work with your team.
