You can not beat the co-workers!

    Programmer (Current Employee) Olean, NY

ProsThe people you will work with and get ot learn from are some of the smartest people you can ever meet.

ConsThe potential for improvments within the company is great yet sad to say held back from doing so. The structure is so top (management) heavy that the little guys that do the work are not recognized as they could be.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't change it if it works well. Improve yes, there's always room for improvement but ORACLE / GSP is the worst thing that could have happened to this company.

    Not good not bad

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsD-R has technology but no access to every employee. They have reputation in industry.I think 20 words are too much.

ConsVery undeveloped business processes, no platform is available to enhance knowledge,

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease look into the processes, I think managerial people having no interest in work.

    Concern for the future

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsMost people were great; opportunities to learn a new business.

ConsBureaucracy; layers of bureaucracy; pay is slightly less than industry; leadership's inability to meet financial targets regularly is concerning.

Advice to Senior ManagementHave a plan and sense of urgency to accurately forecast. The O/G service industry is strong globally, but yet this gong show misses targets, inexcusable without a major shakeup.

This would be a great company if ANYONE was accountable

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe work is fantastic engine improvement work
    the area is fantastic
the people are great to be around

ConsNO ONE is accountable! The last guy to touch something is the reason things are not right even though there are clearly others that are the actual cause

Advice to Senior Managementummm.. MANAGE! Get off your BUTT and put your foot in the butts of those that are not performing! HOLD PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE!

    A good place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood visibility and interesting work. Very competent upper management. Some of the managers are great and really care about your development.... Many different locations and opportunity to move about within the company. Sterling record in the industry as an OEM for rotating & recip equipment.

ConsSome managers are out for themselves and don't care about the development of their employees. HR is a nightmare. Fair amount of internal gridlock. For the most part, many people have the mindset that you would expect from a company that has been around for all of 100 years. Raises are LOW

Advice to Senior ManagementDo a better job of recognizing talent and remember that Olean / the Southern Tier is a small place and not the end all be all; just because something has always been done a certain way does not mean that there isn't a better way to do it

No real engineering since it has all been done before.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsLots of opportunity to learn. You get hands on experience in your field. Being around 20+ ton turbines is very cool. They pay a housing stipend. They respect their interns and give them meaningful jobs.

ConsIt is in the middle of nowhere. The people that work there are very closed minded. The equipment is out dated. The building is falling apart. it rains A LOT. The area floods a lot. There is no fun place to go. the housing is terrible. The closest "city" is 45 minutes away (Olean) if you can call it a city.

    Moving Nowhere

Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) Olean, NY

ProsThe people that you work with, are great people

ConsYou don't get anywhere, even with promises. Dresser paid for me to get my Bachelor's degree, and I'm still at an entry level position, as an Administrative Assistant I.

Typical US Public Company, some great things, some you wish you could change

    Manager (Current Employee) Olean, NY

ProsExciting work, military contracts have added stability. More than fair in compensation in a region where there are not many options

ConsPainfully low rate of reinvestment. Almost no progressive capital investing.

Advice to Senior ManagementPick a strategy that is simple and direct. Commit and invest. Quit doing the rest and stop trying to do everything.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
