    Pros

co-workers were generally helpful, good amount of sick time and vacation.
most positions are monday to friday 7 to 3:30. clean environment.

    Cons

during harvest or planting you will have no life! you cannot bid into a different position so you will be stuck where you are forever. advancement is only by favoritism.

    Advice to Management

quit worrying about non-issues and get back to the basics.

    Pros

    Pay and benefits are good

    Cons

Company does not practice what it preaches. Core values do not apply to all people, just upper level.

    Advice to Management

Be sure that all levels of employees are treated fairly and with respect. Follow your core values.

    Pros

No pros. And this is in Salinas, PR. I can't talk for other sites.

    Cons

You need somebody (best friend or related person) in the company to help you to grow in the company.

    Advice to Management

There is no professionalism in Soybean TI, need to verify what happen between the permanent party and the temporary party. They don't have respect to the temporary people, some humiliate others and when they have an issue they don't investigate just reprimand people and don't fix anything.

    Pros

The projects involve interesting, scientific work. Benefits are decent, better than most on Des Moines.

    Cons

As said in an earlier review, there really is no chance for advancement based on merit. Work is frequently kept hidden so it's not claimed by management. Work techniques aren't shared. Change is discouraged unless one gets a manager to claim it as their own idea. Recognition and choice projects are all based on connections and politics. Everyone, especially who gets promoted, is all connected somehow, related, frat brother, etc. Upper management is never held accountable for mistakes or worse. Employees find out about important events via news media before being told at work.

    Pros

    Local company with average pay.

    Cons

Never recognized for achievements or yrs of dedication, looked upon as a pee-on and NO MIDDLE MANAGEMENT for communication from RA'S to SHOP WORKERS.

    Advice to Management

You definitely need a shop manager for communication between RA's and seasonal employees. I have been yelled at 2x by RA'S in front of other employees for something I didnot even do, without even an apology. How rude.

    Pros

Paycheck and thats it not that its a big one but it is a weekly check.

    Cons

Poor work place unsocial managers late nights and long hours. Not a place I would advise anybody taking a job at. alot has changed but for the worst.

    Advice to Management

Give something for the young guys better raise or better longterm outlook. right now there is nothing worth staying for its pretty sad when every day you wish you had a different job. I think most plants run good but there is one out there that might need some work with the managers and the relationship between the workers and the office.

    Pros

The company has a list of ethics.

    Cons

The department I worked under in Johnston, iA had too many people pulling in different directions, resulting in conflicting directives.

    Advice to Management

Top-down management strategies do not usually work in the long run. Also, no one enjoys being patronized in lieu of meaningful conversations with management. What's the "purpose, process and payoff" in that?

  10. It was the most wonderful place to work until the sale of Pioneer.

    Pros

Pioneer made you feel like a valued person. Most employees were happy and worked together
very well. I made a lot of wonderful friends in my 34 years at Pioneer. I feel I was left out when detasseler payroll was rewritten to work with SAP. But even then, a lot of the payroll folks thought
    I did a good job,

    Cons

Supervisors didn't know how much I did and what I did but I feel that overall because of the direction Dupont wanted to take the company, my job description did not work any more. I just
don't know if I could have stayed. I think they eliminated my position with out giving me a chance
to try to fit in as a support person with another platform.

    Advice to Management

More promotions from within. I was loyal and never wanted to leave.
Keep your managers up to date so they can tell their employees what to do to become an important asset to Pioneer.

    Pros

There arnt many pros except they allow company to take employees bowling and golfing for team building exercises. How much more time do we need to work together than whay we do now. Why not work on our families at home that we never get to see.

    Cons

You cant take off work when you want. It must revolve around the convenience of Pioneer. So come spring (planting), Summer (pollinating), and Fall (Harvest) you cant take off. That gives you 4 months out of the year to take off.... which when you have kids in school you cant take a spring or summer vacation (who wants to go on vacation in december). You are gone from your family for months at a time while planting and harvesting. Then when they say you can take off you are told you cant because they want to send you off for training for days at a time. So pretty much... spring summer fall you are their slave. Then in the winter you only have a 1-2 months to take off because the other months they have you scheduled for more stupid training. Also, most of their training is repeated from year to year. You go to the same old meetings each year. Pioneer is the perfect job for a single guy but not for one that wants to seattle down and be a good dad and husband. None of my coworkers ever make it to their kids ballgames. They get lucky if they can make it to one game the entire year. Also, PIONEERS SALARY is worthless. It's sucks!! My wife makes more than me with no college education working as a secretary at local doctors office. I went to college only to make less than someone without a degree. As my wife says.... the pay doesnt make up for the amount of time you are away from home.... meaning.... for as much time as i'm gone out of town, I get paid very little. $31000 is the max I bring in and that includes overtime. Which speaking of overtime.... they are trying to make their employees go salary which sucks cause of all the overtime you are putting in. I could go on for days as to why pioneer has to be the most worthless company you could work for!!!!

    Advice to Management

    Management is a JOKE!!!
