    Pros

Good place with sufficient resources, a lot of collaborations, and academic like environment with talent colleagues from all backgrounds to do cutting edge researches.

    Cons

Some mid level managers are playing too much politics and ruining the company. It seems that there are more managers than scientists who are really doing science.

    Advice to Management

Treat people equally and evaluate employee based on their job performance and contributions. Recognize and try to keep talent individuals who made important contributions.

    Pros

    Friendly people
Freedom over the direction of your assignment
    Flexible hours
Want you to succeed - cares about what you get out of the internship
Opportunity to learn outside of your area

    Cons

Office culture isn't the most exciting - but what company is?
Difficult things happening internally - a bit awkward at times
Confusion between DuPont & DuPont Pioneer

    Advice to Management

I didn't interact with upper-management very much, with the exception of my direct supervisor so I don't feel as if I have much to say about this.

    Pros

Good resources available to do cutting edge research for product development. Academic like environment with top scientists with different backgrounds from all over the world. Good team work among groups.

    Cons

Research results have to be evaluated internally before that can be published or presented to the public research community. Some management practices recommended by external consulting firms may harmful to the company.

    Advice to Management

Recognize people who get the job done and value their contributions. Reduce program over-management that is often just a waste of resources.

    Pros

Very flexible for scheduling, laid back working environment, ping pong table.

    Cons

Seasonal work load resulting in layoffs, company is losing market-share and therefore is making large employment cutbacks, poor management resulted in too many employees and too little work.

    Advice to Management

Management hired too many new employees spreading the work load too thin to live on.

    Pros

    Competitive salary and benefits
    Very friendly company culture
I appreciate the local people here and find it to be a very collegial atmosphere
Manager flexible and easy to work with, good work-life balance
Colleagues are fun to work with.

    Cons

Smaller crops get short shrift compared to the giants of maize and soybean.
Benefits are not as great as they used to be with the realignment to be more in line with DuPont's benefits
In my opinion, the overemphasis on maize has led to an "all eggs in one basket" problem, very much an issue now with the low price of corn.

    Advice to Management

    Diversify your crop portfolio!

    Pros

Pioneer has a long-standing reputation of being an “employer of choice” in Des Moines, offering competitive compensation, good benefits, excellent career advancement opportunities and an outstanding corporate culture exemplified by “The Long Look”. There is a real sense of community at Pioneer; employees are proud of their company, support their team and are willing to put in extraordinary effort to do the best job possible.

    Cons

A downturn in the seed business has resulted in numerous layoffs tarnishing Pioneer’s reputation for employment stability. A bigger concern is DuPont’s growing influence over Pioneer and the negative impact this has on Pioneer’s culture, growth efficiency and autonomy.

    Advice to Management

Let Nelson Peltz break DuPont apart and get rid of it’s inefficient bureaucracy
