I worked at DuPont Pioneer full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This is an exceptional place to work. It was refreshing to work for a compay that cared for their employees. The company allowed a great work-life balance. There were many opportunities to grow your career and the company appreciates hard working employees.

    Cons

As Dupont began to increase their presence the medical benefits were not as good as they were with Pioneer but still are standard within the market place.

I worked at DuPont Pioneer as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

    Great work life balance.
    Exciting/challenging work to be done.
    High-tech science company.
Great people who see you as more than just a number.

    Cons

    Few and far between.
    Large company.
Some issues with cross company team collaboration.
More traditional than a start up company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue looking at long term strategies over short term gains. Don't stop pushing core values. I believe those make a big difference in how a company operates.

I worked at DuPont Pioneer full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great learning atmosphere for a freshly graduated student. Constantly sent to Pioneer workshops & exposed to some really great mentors within DuPont.

    Cons

Starting pay was considerably less that in the seed production plant, but job autonomy/bonus potential was greater in the sales associate role.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time

    Pros

I can really only speak for the research-related parts of the company, but Pioneer has great work/life balance and still has good benefits despite some cuts last fall. I work with intelligent people on interesting projects. Leadership listens to lower-level employees and there's little top-down management for a company of its size. Revenues have dropped in the industry lately, but the long-term outlook for ag/biotech is great. Des Moines is also one of the best small cities to live in overall. The workforce is culturally diverse. The hiring manager handles the most important parts of the hiring process, and HR isn't overly involved.

    Cons

There are a lot of cooks in the kitchen in research, and leadership has trouble making decisions because real authority and influence is relatively diffused. The org chart is pretty complex. In some cases, maybe there should be more top-down management! Poor performers aren't held accountable very well, and usually just shifted around from team to team. You would have to do something outrageous to get fired. DuPont leadership seems far removed (physically and otherwise) from Pioneer. Their attempts to integrate Pioneer further within the larger company seem to introduce more bureaucracy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of poor performers and consolidate management more.

    I worked at DuPont Pioneer

    Pros

I worked as part of the summer crew, doing pollinating and stuff. The full time staff that work here are very good at motivating you to do your work. Also, they make sure to teach you what you need to do in order to get the job done, and are happy to help.

    Cons

It is hard, hot work, and requires you to be in good shape.

  9.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I have been working at pioneer for many years. The overall ethical treatment and respect is one of the finest in the industry. As with most career occupations the hours can be long, but the rewards in work satisfaction and benefits justifyies the means and the end.

    Cons

I really do not have any cons for working with Pioneer

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Over the past 15 years Pioneer with the help of Dupont has become a worldclass company. Keep the ship sailing for growth

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time

    Pros

This is a fast paced, exciting and challenging environment to work in. If you like a challenge, especially in agriculture, I don't think you will find a better company. The company has its priorities in order and is outspending the competition in R&D which sets up a very bright future.

    Cons

Not many to speak of. As a publicly held company,Wall Street pulls some strings but that is to be expected.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work--you've grown market share for the past decade and things are on track to continue that growth.
