I have been working at DuPont full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay, good benefits, one of best 401k's, generally unstressful work environment. Serious on core values. Flexible work environment.

    Cons

Company is reducing headcount again to meet short term goals, few people are exceptional- most are senior and stuck in their ways. Very boring sometimes. Company pays for professional accounting certification but does not understand their value. Future roles are disappearing due to roles being absorbed and future looks dim. Work load increases with no increase in pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on long term goals, stop favoring the shareholders so much as compared to the rest of employees.

I have been working at DuPont full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

True to core values and business ethics, good perks but promotions not entirely performance based. Growth is entirely on individual and flexibility to move across functions and businesses. Require very good networking skills.

    Cons

Employee growth is completely self responsibility, else good networking required. Managers are supreme power and hold everything with them. Staying for too long makes you practically useless to outside world.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should consider focussing more on technical development and allocate some budget for same.

I have been working at DuPont as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Contractors are well paid and well received. You are valued, however generally speaking they is no hope of being made permanent.

    Cons

Bureaucratic. On-boarding is sparse, it is tough to gain access to necessary software. Literally you must set you IT things up yourself. The company is in the midst of reduction of workforce.

I have been working at DuPont full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

stability; company has been in business for > 200 years. Variety of businesses and job types.

    Cons

slow moving, introverted culture. Company is not growing as fast as its peers and competitors. Limited upside opportunity

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Top leaders should INTERACT with your technical staff. You would be astounded at the distortion of your message as it filters down through layers of management.

    Pros

Good People, Higher than average intelligence employees. Competitive pay is available. Good benefits. Workplace safety held as a Core Value, it's a benefit to the employee.

    Cons

Poor facilities in some cases. Competitive pay is not equitably metered out. Benefits are not fist class as they used to be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the synergies of a diverse portfolio. Avoid breaking up further.

I have been working at DuPont full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Interesting technology
    Trying to "green" the economy
    Great culture in Palo Alto

    Cons

    No growth opportunities
Management cares more about saving money (at everyones expense) instead of investing into new platforms or its employees
    Old boys club mentality
No concrete information on how to get promoted or get good annual reviews

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It feels like a sinking ship. Revenue hasn't grown in a number of years. Forcing sig sigma on researchers is an unproven strategy that never worked for GE or Motorola. How bad do things have to get before constructive changes are made.

    Pros

Very bright people, good technology, good atmosphere, good ethics, and a nice steady organization. I always felt like I was making a contribution to society working here.

    Cons

changing business structure makes life uncertain, which depresses morale. Many changes are being made with one foot in the old world and one in the new, which means you get the worst of both worlds.

I have been working at DuPont full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

It's been around a long time, and stable for the most part. The pay is decent.

    Cons

The benefits were once great, but they keep chipping away. A lot of uncertainty with spinoffs and downsizing and a total change in the direction of the company. Also, the reasons for promoting or not promoting are a bit baffling. There are golden boys/girls who get the best opportunities. Also a lot of inefficiency, dead wood and people doing very little work, while others are working their butts off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually BE transparent instead of saying you are going to be.
