    Safety regulations and procedures were extensive and followed through very well.

    Cons

    At the Oconee plant there was not enough parking during outages and it caused issues.

    Duke Energy is an excellent company with great benefits.

    I do not have anything negative to say about Duke Energy. I worked there for 27 years which tells you how much I loved working there.

    Keep up the great job that you are doing. I love that Duke Energy is a progressive utility.

    Pros

    Duke really seems to invest in their employees. There are many programs available, including tuition reimbursement. If you are motivated, the company genuinely appears to be willing to help you upgrade yourself and your career.

    Cons

    Some of the more senior employees are not very receptive to Duke wanting to advance both the company and it's employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Have a position to assist employees that want to upgrade themselves find applicable programs that would best suit their career goals.

    Training and Development offers seminars/workshops to upgrade your career. Company is very Community-oriented.

    Cons

    Sometimes there is unexpected overtime such as: Ice/snow storms, etc.

    Overall management is very professional (in Training and Development). However, Meter Reading management was not.

    Pros

    Benefits, stable company, stand by employees.

    Cons

    Moving many positions to contract workers. Most all of the previous retail locations and payment centers have been closed. Now, the only way to speak to a Duke Energy employee is to phone the call center.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The Bottom Line is important, but not everything.
