    Excellent co-op experience within engineering

Co-Op Engineer (Former Employee) Raleigh, NC

ProsI was given a large amount of responsibility which aided fast personal growth. I was surrounded by bright minds; Duke places a lot of focus on engineering excellence and development.

ConsThe recent merger with Progress Energy was less than smooth, but the resulting company will be a valuable blend of best practices and strong leadership.

I enjoyed the challenging pace of work and the professionalism of my colleagues.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Cincinnati, OH

ProsIt's all about the people. It was a pleasure to work with the hard-charging folks on my project. I worked in the IT area which is composed mostly of contractors.

ConsAreas and departments were always being reorganized and I had 4 bosses in 3 years. They were all good people, but it was a bit challenging continuously adjust to each style. When I started, there was no on-boarding process and I had to figure out stuff as needed. (They have one now)

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue the leadership training program.

    Incredibly challenging and rewarding

    Engineer (Current Employee) Raleigh, NC

ProsThe best reasons for working at Duke Energy are the challenges and the people. It also has good locations in all of NC.

ConsThe downsides of working here is the atmosphere. It's not bad, but I can't find a time to relax at work.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou need to make sure there are some benefits at work for employees such as a daycare center and a pool.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
