    Pros

The product they sell and service to clients itself is the best in our industry and the people you work with day to day. Pay is above average for now...

    Cons

Senior Management, very little communication from mgmt & No work life balance. Mgmt doesn't have a clue what they are doing and keep trying to change thing to say they did something, but in the end makes it more difficult to do business at the day to day level for no reason. They are also trying to pay/bonus/comp money as well with adding more work. When I first joined the company it was MUCH better... now not a fun place to work anymore (since 2012)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your people more and don't be cheap when it comes to existing clients. Please also ask your employees if a process will improve their work flow BEFORE implementing a complicated process. Think LONG TERM

    Pros

The pay was decent initially however after working with another manager but total compensation went down due to lack of bonus.

Make sure to interview them because this went from being the greatest place to work to my worst nightmare in a matter of months.

    Cons

Lack of management training for the long term Etrade employees. Try to work for some who is newer to Etrade.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I hear you are doing a great job since I left and that makes me happy to hear. Try to pay more attention to middle management training.

    Pros

Upper management is trying to turn the tech side around and have introduced a number of process improvements to help make things more transparent. There is a move to upgrade the technology and its infrastructure. Considering the all new executive suite, it will be some time before the success of this undertaking can be evaluated.

    Cons

Mediocre salary. High stress levels. Not much room for advancement unless you are more into game playing than actual innovation and accomplishment. Technology dating back to the 90's and unlikely to change very quickly. Working level leadership is more interested in empire building than building the company. At present, the process that has been implemented is all show and no substance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would help to translate the advertised company values into something real instead of relying on an obsolete management style based on bullying. Good upper management intentions are usually frustrated by a lack of follow through. The middle-management bureaucracy somehow manages to protect it's domain, and give the appearance of acting without really taking the process improvements to heart.

    Pros

Etrade is a good company if you can climb out of the front line trading and customer service level and get into stock plans, corporate services, etc.. Benefits are excellent. Raises are performance based and generally fairly small percentage increases. the best way to earn more is to take advantage of overtime hours when offered.

    Cons

Employees are micro managed for call handle times. Customer service can often be sacrificed for efficiency. Financial advisors are not really advisors and are not trained to be such. The company just wants to get as many assets under management as they can and charge management fees for not managing the accounts.

    Pros

Okay benefits and good hourly pay for what you were doing.
Get to look at the stock market all day and see a lot of fox news, if that's your sort of thing.

    Cons

Condescending middle management, little autonomy, Absolutely no one on my floor woke up and wanted to go to work in the morning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give an accurate description of position in the interview and maybe you won't have a 50% turnover every 6 months

    Pros

Great for someone out of college or looking to get there entry level license without out of pocket cost

    Cons

Low pay for the constant barrage of calls and high responsibilities and no room for error. constantly pushes advancement from within but makes you feel bad if you dont want to move in there time frame or at your own pace. and they act like your getting some huge raise with the promotion. Managers do squat with the majority of work falling on shoulders of the leads.

    Pros

Good place to get your securities license

    Cons

C-level management constantly changing (3 new CEOs for the past 5 years). Leads are given to favor reps/fc. Poor training, compensation, protocols and customer service.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They need to get their act together.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Flexibility concerning Telecommuting, the Location was ideal, and the Work/Life Balance was pleasant.

    Cons

Compensation Package (low pay compared to competition and/or industry standards) Management (as they were horrible to work with, complete condescending people), In addition they micro-managed and the funny part is that the employees knew more than what they knew. High-Turnover, and outsourcing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When depleting the work force in order to save a buck. Try trimming off the people fielded in the managerial positions because in my opinion and based on experience, the lower level employees actually get the work done, while management takes the credit. I guess that's the culture of working in a corporate environment.
