    Greatest People to work with.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe office atmosphere is energetic and upbeat. A profitable company brings good compensation and the motto is work hard play hard.

ConsBecause of understaffing due to restricted growth of organization and the constant movement of employees in and out of distributers, the employees seem to work 80 plus hours and not taking all of their vacation.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend the money and create additional positions.

Solid experience, but nothing glamorous about this winery.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGreat people, values employees, lots of access to wine

ConsSlow at times, Management very resistant to change

Advice to Senior ManagementYou will receive the best talent if you can figure out a great way to allow people to live in the Bay Area and still work in Modesto.

    I had a great experience

    Sales Representative (Current Employee)

ProsGreat people who are like-minded, fun and motivated. Promotion is from within, so work hard and you will go places!

ConsLong hours but worth it in the long run. Some parts of the job are not ideal but it is entry level, which is expected in most entry level.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep doing what you are going

My experience at E. & J. Gallo Winery was positive mostly. I felt very fortunate to find employment.

General Winery Worker (Former Employee) Modesto, CA

ProsThe pay, if you can strike a chord with employment panel, you can some pretty good money for work that isn't terrible.

ConsBig rift between the 600 Yosemite bottling plant and the 200 Yosemite bottling plant. Job culture I guess, but it was hindering in some aspects.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay attention to your employees. The buddy system is a bit too prevalent in the Gallo culture.

    Solid

Analyst III (Current Employee) Modesto, CA

ProsWonderful growth opportunities. Able to transfer between branches. Company is growth, success is evident, and financials are sound. Modesto may not be Milan, but the cost of living is low relative to the rest of California.

ConsIt can be challenging to work cross-functionally. Many departments function independently of each other and it can be challenging to share information. Also, many people move through departments quickly (pro for one's career) and this creates holes in "tribal knowledge".

Advice to Senior ManagementBe willing to fail fast. Don't be afraid to admit when a strategy has failed and be positioned to pivot. Walk the floor and fight the altitude effect. Carve out time to talk to the interns and entry-level people to learn what the fancy PowerPoints may not be telling you. Continue to invest in the process of developing your people (great job so far!).
