    Pros

EMC dominates the large enterprise data storage market. It feels good to be on the winning team. Feels great delivering stellar client success.

    Cons

Relentless drive to persistently over achieve aggressive goals occassionaly gets old.

    Pros

This is the *only* company I have ever been in where they are asking you "What do you want to do next?"

In doing so, they are talking about advancement. This was evident in my initial interview where the interview team told me that I was overqualified. I was disappointed because I thought I was being shown the door, but instead, they brought me to a manager who ran a division where my skillset was a match (and better paid!)

Fast forward a few years later, and my current manager is looking to set me up for my next career step. Granted, I work very, very hard with little free time at work, but at the end of the day, I go home in time to have dinner, or enjoy whatever life has to offer outside of work.

Easy? No. But you are definitely captain of your own career there and by working hard and executing on expectations you put yourself in a position to succeed.

    Cons

The only real thing that seems to be a con is that it is a large company. Well over 20 billion dollars each year in revenue, you are at some level a number. If the overall corporate strategy changes, you could find yourself unemployed as your division no longer exists. I think that's the case in life though.
As my dad always said, "You pays yer monies and you takes yer chance!"

    Cons

Lack of direction through middle and upper management can often leave line employees wondering how they can succeed

    Pros

EMC offers a ton of training that I would suggest to everyone to take. There any many partners of EMC and I would suggest taking advantage of those by taking certifications with them if you decide to pursue a career with them. The facilities are great and the atmosphere in the office is great as well as every employee I have met. I hope to come back to EMC and try out another department and see how I would fit in with different groups.

    Cons

Sometimes work can be hard to find. I often find myself asking a lot of my co-workers if they have any extra work that they wouldn't mind me taking a crack at, but since it is the summer I guess things get pretty slow. Being an intern this was my first full time job and at first the time commitment worked itself out for me, but it does take its toll.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe try to plan more work for interns to do, I have read in a lot of reviews that work can be hard to find for us, but believe me even though we're young we do want it.

Ghosts of the Old EMC (pre-2000) still haunt the halls (Tucci has done a great job changing the culture but ...)

Employees are very welcoming and you are giving the opportunity to explore a company where you believe you fit best outside of your department.

    Cons

The only challenges working here was the diversity, but at the same time my department is very welcoming that shattered any cultural barriers in the work place.

    Pros

They provide you the tools and resources to complete work at a high level. They provide training and competitive compensation. They make you feel as though you make a difference and are critical to their success.

    Cons

Middle management can be over reactive and at times empire builders possibly stagnant as in all large companies I think.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Move the talented resources to the developing potential. Do not always promote the loudest.
