I have been working at EY full-time

    Pros

hahahhaha....Are you kidding me?? I know many would disagree!!!!

    Cons

I had applied through its website. Well, I got a call from one of their Directors the next day. Within the next few days, I was invited for an interview in one of their offices (Gurgaon) after 6:30 pm. It was with A Partner and the same Director person. That was it!!!!
I was asked to wait for sometime for my feedback. Months passed.. I tried to follow up with the Same Director, but with the same answer. " We have not decided yet"... For God's sake, Just tell me a plain no and all of this speculation would end.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are supposedly the elite Management people from IIM's/XLRI... But I think no one has ever taught you the value of professional attitude. When you take an interview, please do build the guts and be courteous enough to either say yes/no to the candidate. Do not keep it dangling in the zone of uncertainty.

I have been working at EY full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

free lunch, flexible schedule, great benefits. great people.

Typical day was reviewing marketing needs for the Partners of the firm, getting them promotional sporting tickets in time to invite clients and make it to the game. I maintained the marketing database. I coordinated the Entrepreneur of the Year event at the local hotel, including food organization, writing articles for the Denver Business Journal.

    Cons

EY does not care about its people. You are treated like factory workers with no education or technical skills. Do not apply to the Financial Services Office, specifically AML -- it is horrible! Do not believe anything they tell you on the job interview. It is all lies and when you try to address any of your concerns, you are quickly blacklisted and given engagements with long commute (3-6 hours roundtrip daily!) or insane hours! No work-life balance, no respect for its employees!!! Apply to Deloitte -- I'm sure it has a better practice

I have been working at EY full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Its a place where one can learn a lot . Ample opportunities to grow your career in diversified sectors . Its a place where one can have opportunity to interact with different cultures.

    Cons

Salary and benefits paid are low as compared to industry . During the season there is just too much pressure to meet the deadline .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training should be given to some managers on how to delegate the work and have culture of two way communication should be promoted.

I have been working at EY full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Its as close to "Management Consulting" experience as many will get an opportunity in, especially those who work in the industry. Also, you work on different things every few months, therefore work is interesting.

    Cons

    1. Senior leadership pushes the people-culture agenda, but in reality that is not always the case. Given the expected growth rate, a lot of PPEDs and senior managers are under pressure for results. Nothing wrong with it, but some are very unprofessional and expect you to drop everything to help them (including client work).

    2. Given the focus on utilization, folks are being put on projects outside their field with the hope to move them as soon as possible (lucky for me, this has not been the case)

    3. Some promotions are based on "perceived hard work" vs. actual quality of work performed. Not sure why this is being promoted, but this was definitely the case in this year's promotion cycle

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Few years ago, this was a great firm and everyone promoted the people-culture set the senior management. Now, its more focused has shifted and its like any other firm. It does not differentiate itself for high-quality workers.

I have been working at EY full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Opportunities to move around and try new jobs / experiences.

    Cons

Every department is completely different and feels like you are working for a different company. It is luck of the draw of which team you end up in. Flexibile working makes it a good work life balance. However work volumes can be very high at times which does not give you a good balance. Salaries are lower than the average, but experience and training are very good.
