    Pros

+ Career development opportunities are abundant
+ Excellent learning experience, especially if you want to understand how large companies operate
+ Plenty of room for movement (i.e. city-to-city, promotion, service line-to-service line)
    + Challenging work, no stagnation

    Cons

    - As is the case in the profession, EY does demand a heavy workload
    - Sometimes the compensation seems low compared to how much you work and what you can immediately obtain elsewhere. However, the long-term career opportunities at EY dwarf the short-term pay incentives elsewhere.

    Pros

    - If you were able to prove yourself early on, teams will bring you in and you will be able to have a smoother time.
    - It's really what you make it out to be. You put in your time, effort and personal development, then you will definitely learn a lot more than just cruising.

    Cons

    - Hard to get work-life balance. You do have to sacrifice your personal time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - If management wants to retain good people, then they have to compensate them - either with time or money. Otherwise, they will be burnt out and leave.

    Pros

Work for great people who appreciate the effort and time you put in for them. Even though I'm just doing my job, they always say thank you.

    Cons

Benefits are decent. Very LGBT friendly but you can't cover a same-sex domestic partner on insurance. Doesn't make sense to me. Why not be 100% equal.

    Intern

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

You see more in public accounting than any other experience you can get in the finance world. EY Detroit specifically had the best culture of Big 4 firms, focusing on work-life balance and caring for you as an individual.

    Cons

The nature of public accounting is high paced and can be long hours. While the majority of people you work with are helpful and enjoyable, you may get stuck on a job with someone who is not.
