I have been working at EarthLink full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

EarthLink has some very smart people working for the company that really do try to work together. It is a smaller company than most in this industry, and they make people feel welcome when joining the EarthLink team. Now is a good time to join the team and contribute towards the success EarthLink will be having very soon.

    Cons

The processes can be a little daunting but wise changes are coming to help simplify things. The past layoffs and sense of direction may have hurt morale but that can change with the right strategy moving forward and I believe Mr. Eazor has the correct strategy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep with the plan and stick to it. It will be a little bumpy at first but good things will come out of it because it is a solid strategy.

I have been working at EarthLink full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits and PTO, culture of respect and great people. I have been here three years and have always been challenged and felt involved in the success of the company. I really like that the company is not afraid to make huge course corrections if its ultimately for the best.

    Cons

LOTS of change and incredibly dynamic environment -- you have to be flexible and open to a bit of chaos if you want to be happy working here. Not everyone is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep listening to front line employees - keep up the two way dialogue and act on recommendations from time to time. Make sure you are always living and modeling the values. Yes, your job is hard, and you are under a lot of pressure -- but the people below you work just as hard for less money. Ask yourself, "What have I personally done to help make this company great today?" Your people are watching.

I have been working at EarthLink full-time

    Pros

Great salary! Great benefits! Ample work-life balance. Great culture and feedback is welcomed. Input and ability to change things are available if you voice it and suggest improvements.

    Cons

Rotating days, hard to make a set schedule. Uneasiness about job security with constant talks of change but no real outline going forward.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Standards need to be placed so a benchmark can be set for employees who have goals and are willing to work hard to obtain them.

I have been working at EarthLink full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Company is very passionate about Customer Experience. Encourages employee growth of skill sets and learning. Cares deeply about Brand perception and will move heaven and earth to solve issues that lead to bad customer experience. Very creative and open environment. Every employee has access to email the CEO directly with concerns. Always looking for ways to be better and smarter in the competitive space yet works hard to balance that operational plan with fiscal responsibility.

    Cons

Challenges include many recent re-organization's that can lead to undefined roles and responsibilities. That said the company makes great efforts to pinpoint and target those area's that need refinement. Promotions within can be sparse until the company fully operationalizes it's new direction but there ARE opportunities for those who want to make an impact.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue on this new path and keep the entire company focused on these central new goals and direction. Keep the communication coming and cascade the new direction and focus throughout the company as quickly as possible.

I have been working at EarthLink full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Solid, consistent core values and beliefs. Outstanding individuals to work with, customer focus, integrity, and flexibility. Employees are encouraged to work autonomously and all are viewed as key contributors.

    Cons

The workforce is located in a number of different locations, so if you aren't an effective communicator, it can be challenging. Also, due to the number of different companies that have been acquired in recent years, there are different cultures that are in the process of blending together.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the great work!

I have been working at EarthLink full-time

    Pros

-Competitive compensation plan for sales employees
-constantly innovating product suite and improving services for customers
    -reward hard workers
    -Great work/like balance
-Great Benefits (i.e. Medical, 401k, etc)

    Cons

    - High Level of turn over provides for a sometimes negative work environment.
-Not enough support from Project Management and Engineering
-Management in various divisions seems disconnected and at times, unaligned with the overall vision.
-Lack of tech's to support outages puts sales and account management in a frequently difficult position

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Need to hire more talent to support reps in the field. The support personnel are either extremely overloaded with non-revenue generating tasks, or otherwise lazy.
-Various divisions are too separate from each other and need to be realigned under less top-level management.
    -Consider providing Merritt raises?
-Decentralize service and support. Align the teams together under single managers and hold those accountable that are not willing to be part of the solution.
