    Pros

Wonderful people to work with and to work for! Eastman also provides plenty of training/experiences needed for you to do your job well!

    Cons

Kingsport is a more rural area and is sometimes hard for younger generations to adapt to if they are looking for a bigger city feel.

    Pros

There is a wealth of knowledge to draw from here at Eastman. We are well-staffed with specialists in several areas, so if you have a question, someone will be able to answer it. Pay and benefits are relatively good...at least compared to my previous employer. Most importantly, the culture is very family-oriented. When they say that they believe in work-life balance, I actually feel like they mean it.

    Cons

As with any large company, the process to make changes is slow. Also, it appears to be a low-risk, low-reward type incentive system.

Current Employee - Laboratory Technician in Kingsport, TN

    Pros

Worked 20 years in production which was a challenging, yet rewarding experience. Was allowed to go back to school to work toward being Lab tech certified. Since then have even been more challenged. Very interesting job working for the last 2 years in this part of the company.

    Cons

Seems like there is a point in ones career that it does not pay to attempt to improve. Upon being promoted, was informed of being cut in pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Opportunities for advancement for employees with many years of service needs to be easier to understand. Examples: Pay, rate of advancement in new job, clearer expectations. Be more open and honest.

    Pros

Good opportunity to learn and grow.

    Cons

Constant increase in responsibilities without additional compensation is creating a lot of exhaustion. Company is doing well, but morale doesn't reflect it because the grind isn't letting up.

    Pros

Higly ethical company with excellent leaders that try to walk the talk. Clear vision and core businesses are the foundations of management decisions while developing the future generation of leaders.

    Cons

People need to be empowered to take appropriate decisions in the right time. Today Eastman´s decision process is slow and corporate centered. Many people involved in decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don´t allow behaviors that are contrary to Eastman Core Values.

Current Employee - Human Resources in Kingsport, TN

    Pros

    Highly ethical chemical/manufacturing company
Strong coworkers with high individual standards for the most part
Good relationships between various employee groups from management to first level employees - nonunion environment as a result of these relationships and working environment
HQ in a strong, family-oriented community/region for those interested in that aspect

    Cons

Limited movement across sites if that is a strong individual interest
HQ in TriCities TN not attractive for everyone. If you will only consider location with big city amenities, probably should look elsewher. We do have significant presence in St. Louis and Pittsburgh

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As we drive to meet growth goals, and focus on financial performance, make sure we keep strengths of long-term Eastman culture. Small town values, low political environment internally, true team spirit is what got us here.

    Pros

Great people to work with, good pay and benefits. Low level management is super.

    Cons

I worked for Eastman a total of 22 years. This is almost half of my life. I had a life changing event happen recently and was let go because of this. I would not wish what happened to me on anyone but upper management did not care. I had several etr's and have NEVER been written up during my entire career there. I am now 50 years old and without a job. Upper management DID NOT CARE what had happened to me! My now ex sister in law works in HR and this only added to my problem. I was taken to b215 and was let go before I even got there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management needs a reality check, I am talking about HR and department heads.

    Pros

Very competitive pay and benefits. I've been presented with exciting, challenging and fun opportunities with Eastman from time to time. Work/Life balance is stressed by upper management.

    Cons

I feel like the company could be more transparent about rationale behind decisions that will be disapointing to employees. Work/Life balance is frequently just lip service when it comes to direct management.
