    Pros

For the location where I work, this is the best place to work for the salary I make. The work is interesting and I have enjoyed each assignment.

    Cons

Workloads continue to grow as people retire. The overall cost of benefits for health care is "in-line" with other big corporations. So we are paying more for these, but isn't everyone?

    Advice to Management

If Eastman's # 1 competitive advantage is her people, why not be "out of line" for what you spend on an employee's benefits package.

    Pros

Good work life balance. Reasonable expectations. Mentors available. Can change roles significantly without leaving location.

    Cons

Upward mobility is slower due to low turnover.

    Advice to Management

More visibility. Do not benchmark everything. Be a leader not just as good as everyone else.

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere, our mentors show genuine care in how we are enjoying our time here and they make it clear that it should be a learning experience for us.

    Cons

With such a big company everything moves very slowly. If you need something reviewed or approved it takes a long time before it gets back to you.

    Advice to Management

I wish that the projects I am working on were more hands on as opposed to mostly documentation and recommendations.

    Pros

Job security Annual raises/bonuses There are some really great people to work with and build lasting relationships with Great managers Contribution to the company (United Way, etc)

    Cons

    1. Location: the company loses the potential for amazing talent because of its location. It's great for people who already have families but young, sharp professionals who come out here won't like it. If you're in sales, it might not be too bad because once you've completed your first year here you work from your home office. There's also a lack of diversity because of its location in a predominantly Caucasian area. 2. Pay an arm and a leg for insurance and still get a bill 3. If you come in as an non-exempt employee who plans on moving into an exempt role soon, you're on your own. It would be fine if this were the case for all employees but it isn't. Exempts are moved into positions regularly without having to look at the career site and their managers work together to make these transitions occur as quickly as possible. So if you're someone who has a lot of ambition and wants to keep growing in your career, do not come in as a non-exempt employee and think it will be easier. It won't. Two other things that demonstrates the divide between non-exempts and exempts are: You're told you will be able to apply for tuition reimbursement after working for the company a year but it doesn't end there. You MUST be an exempt employee to get it. If you're a non-exempt employee, you will pay that tuition out of pocket. There are also networking groups that meet frequently for luncheons and dinners where the eligibility depends on your exempt or non-exempt status.

    Advice to Management

Quit excluding non-exempt employees. There are many of us who have so much to offer to the company and are constantly overlooked. I think non-exempts should be able to move on to new roles if they show the drive, initiative, POTENTIAL and have the same educational background the company is looking for in a candidate.
