I worked at Eaton full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Decent pay, and okay benefits.

    Cons

    1. Favoritism by managers
    2. Discrimination based on race at Jackson, Michigan facility especially
    3. Management and HR would cook up untrue allegations just to get you fired because of budget reasons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't believe that employees are disgruntled when they complain about their direct managers, the people you put in charge are doing unethical things and messing up people's lives without remorse.

    I worked at Eaton

    Pros

Can't think of anything real positive about the organization-my experience had been negative from first initial contact - from senior management on down. Shortsighted short term goals-as long as the month end numbers come in as projected; everything's fine-not too much retribution.

    Cons

Leadership lacking (mngrs. do not understand their markets). Profit motivated at all costs-regardless of repercussions. Terrible customer service and relationships

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

readdress priorities-desperately needs long term thinking (more than a month).

    Pros

Opportunities for advancement if you sacrifice your family life

    Cons

More concerned with diversity than putting a capable person in the job. Silo, Silo, Silo

I have been working at Eaton full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    401K with match, tuition reimbursement

    Cons

Brain Washed, Unionized thinking, inefficiently run, culture encourages employee sense of entitlement and lack of maturity, Very low employee appreciation, absolutely no appreciation/opportunities for new hires.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the union, Challenge employees to prove/improve themselves, improve employee satisfaction, utilize talent within the plant before looking outward, operate based on competence not seniority, increase vertical and horizontal communication, implement shadow/apprentice program before people retire and take their knowledge with them, cross-train to prevent that problem.

I have been working at Eaton as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

There are no pros due to situation

    Cons

Trusting someone for a contract only to have it switch suddenly with 1 month notice to find other work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't bring on someone new if you know that you are outsourcing that department. People who need work lose when you do something like that which puts the pressure on them for finding new work when it's already hard in the first place.

TERRIBLE EMPLOYER, WORST CORPORATE WORK CULTURE

Former Employee - Accounts Payable  in  Raleigh, NC
Former Employee - Accounts Payable in Raleigh, NC

I worked at Eaton as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

On hindsight, only their name - looks fine on your resume!

    Cons

Poor shoddy treatment of temp-to-hire personnel in the branch I worked, contract force is treated badly - no alignment of departments, inside rivalry for positions. There is also insider 'favoritsm' in force here: an open-door policy where past favorite workers are taken in over those who come new and invest their time and effort in this place. They do not even have a WORKING computer to offer their temp. workers here!! Not only do they not train adequately, they display no ethics when it comes to dropping contract workers off without so much as a reason or goodbye. No diversity in cultures here either. have worked for corporates before but never experienced something quite so shoddy and shabby. Dont bother applying for even a temporary vacancy here- people who dont respect you as an individual will not appreciate you any way, no matter what your qualification or ability, and regardless of your color or ethnicity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop looking at just the bottom line- if you cant appreciate the people who work for you, your organization is not much worth to anyone in the long run.

I have been working at Eaton full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Reputable company
    Diversified portfolio
    Ahead of the curve

    Cons

Not all facilities are tuned to corporate strategy.
Aquired sites not brought to speed until they fail
My site was never onboard with Eaton Culture, or One Eaton

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at a facility which was purched from another company. Old management was retained because the site was very profitable, however, the site did not understand Eaton philosophy, and Eaton did not understand the site's prodcut lines. Over a period of 6 years, the site was beyone repair. Good people left, others were made to leave, HR did more damage by focusing on wrong aspects, the site went into a tail spin. Advice to management: Drop the sites which are not aligned with your portfolio and philosophy.

I have been working at Eaton full-time

    Pros

    Great pay and benefits
    Stable company
    Looks great on your resume

    Cons

Work life balance only exists for the week after another employee resigns
    Employee satisfaction scores are low
Management aware of employee DIS-satisfaction for 3 years-no improvements made
    Hierarchy management structure
Employee resignations are written off as employee's inability to manage workload vs. management's inability to support employee's needs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Happy, healthy employees improves bottom line

Current Employee - No Accountability Towards Lazy Employees and Lack of Work!  in  Raleigh, NC
Current Employee - No Accountability Towards Lazy Employees and Lack of Work! in Raleigh, NC

I have been working at Eaton

    Pros

Pension is about it and you can call in sick as many days as you like, if you are that type of employee.

    Cons

Have employees that take 20-50 day's off per year for being sick, or so they claim.
Work with people that are not experienced or professional.
Upper Management in Raleigh is old boy's network and don't understand sales.
Some employees milk the system and take 3 hour lunches, are full of excuses, and their manager protects them.
There are certain Manager's there who don't like conflict and have no backbone when it comes to addressing under-performing employees.
Preach ethics, but employees sametime each other all kinds of thing's which are not ethical.
They fire good employees who do their job for unfair reasons and keep those that don't even work.
