    I worked at Eaton

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. Mostly good people. Not all. I would only recommend this facility just for the pay, benefits and nothing else. If you are employed, it would be wise to keep to yourself and choose your friends very carefully. One more thing, don't get too cozy with HR, upper management and the amoral supervisors. They will claim to be your friend at some point. Remember, they are not.

    Cons

Human Resources was a joke, didn't follow their own guidelines, and made it up as they went along. The good old boy system was alive and well at the facility. Department heads and supervisors were mediocre at best. Morale was always down. The true trouble markers and poor performers always got away with their antics. What employee on any assembly line in America surfs the internet and listen to music through their hidden headphones (which is a safety hazard) while working? The materials department management and structure was the most atrocious system imaginable. It was always frustrating to see poor performers get promoted, but it was norm their. No matter what, privilege will always be used to punish or promote at this facility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Corporate needs to fly down and clean house of department managers and supervisors at that facility. No one is there to hold those people for their poor performance, lack of morals, and ethics.

I worked at Eaton full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Advancement potential, interesting work, good pay, growing company, solid track record through many economic conditions.

    Cons

very little work life balance. one of the few remaining "good old boys" divisions out there. Not uncommon to have all male meetings where senior managers use frequent poor language and discuss important business decisions as though they were still adolescents.
Big con- if you want to advance all roads lead to Syracuse NY, not a great place to live.

I have been working at Eaton

    Pros

Lots of career opportunities if you play the game and are willing to move around. Decent training, salary, and benefits are possible.

    Cons

Ultra short term focus, extreme penny pinching, chronic under investment except in a few areas, and way too many layers of management. There are entire layers of executive management that seem to exist to generate reports for the next layer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Short term focus is hurting medium and long term potential

I have been working at Eaton full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Large company with good potential for career growth. Management likes for you work your current position for approximately two years. Then, assuming you have mastered it and done a good job, they will help advance your career. In my experience, this mentorship is somewhat rare. This is beat thing about working at Eaton.

    Cons

This is a very political place. Keep your head down.
