I have been working at Eaton Vance full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The people at EV are amazing. There isn't anyone that I do not like working with. People are friendly and helpful. There is team atmosphere.

    Cons

There are some processes that are still very manual and could benefit with automation and an investment in technology.

    Advice to Management

The behind the scene work needs to be reviewed and automated to better business practices. Compliance and legal should be expanded to handle the increase in work .

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Eaton Vance as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Good Work, Life balance of hours. Mutual Fund business is alot less stressful compare to peer companies in industry.

    Cons

Lack of upward mobility within company, roles are strictly defined without room to innovate. Wish there was option for more responsibilities within role.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees to add value to company, and provide mobility as discussed above. Managers are understanding and kind. Have yet to have a conflict with any of my managers. All are well mannered.

I have been working at Eaton Vance full-time

    Pros

Nothing comes to mind. They rely on their distributors to sell the product. I would recommend anyone considering using our products to look at low fee market index as the performance will surely outperform any EV fund in the medium to long run.

    Cons

I actively discourage anyone who has potential and the means to get a better job because this place is a death spiral. Low quality investment manager. No exit opportunities since few of heard of this place.

    Advice to Management

Return capital to investors and fold up. Stop wasting shareholder equity on worthless acquisitions. This is an underperforming shop.

I have been working at Eaton Vance full-time

    Pros

    None none none none none.

    Cons

Where shall I begin? Mediocre comes to mind when I think of Eaton Vance for the quality of work produced. The misallocation of resources and truly incompetent culture that's pervasive here is unbelievable. There shouldn't be room for investment managers like Eaton Vance as the service level is far below acceptable.

    Advice to Management

Time to change it up and transfer funds to more knowledgeable firms.

I have been working at Eaton Vance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The culture is second to none. No matter what level you are your opinion matters and there are no egos wth upper management. Plenty of exposure to all parts of the company. Your experience at EV is what you make of it!

    Cons

If there is some aspect of the company to complain about then I haven't come across it yet. Hopefully I never will.

    Advice to Management

Continue to maintain the current culture and provide any guidance / career advice to younger employees. Encourage everyone to take advantage of aspects of EV that are not offered other places and to get involved with various company events, charities, etc as it is a FANTASTIC way to network here.

    Pros

    Nice building next to harbor.

    Cons

The quality of work is below average and that doesn't seem to concern anyone around here. I suspect the lack of ability to recruit talent is a major factor. I would not recommend EV products to anyone as I don't believe the fees correlate with the quality of service or performance. This is a strange place.

    Pros

Great office, easy hours and decent pay

    Cons

to formal of a work environment. Management makes you wear a suit to work every day for a phone job. Little to no growth opportunities; rarely do people get promoted to the external role and the ones that do get put in territories like WV. Management will constantly look over your shoulder. A highly micromanaged work environment.

    Pros

great company core values and fantastic culture

    Cons

hard to move up unless you went to an upper tier school, lack of communication between management and employees

    Advice to Management

pay your younger employees what the market dictates instead of using a stock purchase plan and 401k as a crutch
