for a company that emphasizes efficiency they are very wasteful

    Field Service Specialist (Current Employee)

Prosthe money is good if you don't want a personal life. truly unlimited earning potential. take company vehicle home every night. company paid smart phone and good benefit package. almost complete independence. "make your own schedule"(see cons)

Consextreme route change without notice. fluctuating pay, long hours, strange hours, high expectations with no management support. Upper management talks a big game about taking care of people first, but money is not everything. Middle management ignores requests for help and blame you when things go wrong. you do not own your time 24/7, you are at the mercy of your customers as far as that goes. vacations are a complete lie. spend a lot of money on corporate dinners, paper reports, annual meetings, ecolab "schwag", and frivolous things that could go to field associates.

Advice to Senior ManagementHIRE PEOPLE! when a route is open other associates are forced to work outside of their area without notice.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsStable company, continues to grow and expand. Works at sustainability for themselves and other companies. Some good people to work with and learn from.

ConsLittle to no work life balance. Don't take care of the people that do the everyday work and keep the business running and profitable.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees better and moral will start to improve.

Leadership needs to get back to reality. We are losing the culture that made us who we are.

Territory Representative (Current Employee) Greensboro, NC

ProsThe company has been a fair company to work for, and for the most part has treated the associates fair. Decent pay and benefit package. Numerous advancement opportunities to advance, if you are willing to relocate.

ConsOver the years, the company has been "squeezing" our associates to deliver more with less resources. This has caught up with many of our divisions. We promise the customers this great support program, but in reality we deliver this only to 10% of our customers. The other 90% get less support and service because of the unrealistic goals that we have reach. In order to reach these goals we must decide what corners to cut, in order to save time. It is not fair to our customers to get promised a superior program, but get a sub par program delivered.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease listen to your associates as we know what we are talking about. We are the feet on the street, and the face of Ecolab to our customers. If we invest in more field people, we will have the time and skills to deliver the results. If you keep squeezing us, we are forced to cheat the customer. It is not right.

    Takes a one-size-fits-all approach

Senior Analyst (Former Employee) Houston, TX

ProsThis is a good sturdy company where you can start and end you career. If you put in your time and do your job you will never be too stressed.

    "Official" policies are fair.

ConsVery political structure. Good performance may actually keep you trapped rather than give you new opportunities as managers try to prevent you from being recognized.

Promotion based on seniority and the friend network.

Succession planning and career mapping are only given to a select few.

Advice to Senior ManagementUnderstand the differences between your business units. Both you employees and customers are different and can't be treated the same.
