    Intern

    Intern (Former Employee) Washington, DC

ProsWas given meaningful work and had great supervisors that not only made themselves available to me but made feel like they were really invested in me benefiting from my experience there.

ConsWith the real possibility of a job offer resulting from serving as an intern, there can be a very competitive work culture between the interns. This has its benefits and downfalls.

Great company to work for and great people to work with!

ProsMy colleagues are all smart and dedicated to their work and the energy is contagious. Leadership genuinely cares about the employees.

ConsYou work on the demands of clients, so work loads can vary dramatically

The only agency I will ever work for.

Senior Vice President (Current Employee) Washington, DC

ProsUnlike other agencies that say they support work-life balance and value their employees as their top asset, Edelman actually does both of these things in practice. Through the actions of middle to senior management, you are truly made to feel valued and appreciated. Opportunities are everywhere and the culture is laid back and fun.

ConsWhile there is far less pressure on utilization than other agencies, making for a more relaxed environment (that's not to say we don't work super hard to achieve successes), but the salary compensation does seem lower than market competitors in the area. However, with the environment and culture, PTO and benefits, it balances out.

    Feel very appreciated

Senior Account Supervisor (Current Employee) Washington, DC

ProsManagement/supervisors are fantastic. I work with a highly skilled team who are great at their jobs. I feel very valued, appreciated and rewarded for my unique skills and talents. Fun mix of projects continually rather than the same old thing day in and day out.

ConsHours can be long. Tendency to under-staff

Advice to Senior ManagementBe willing to hire more readily. You risk burning out your employees who have to carry too much of the load.

    Entrepreneurial mindset

Senior Vice President (Current Employee) Washington, DC

ProsGreat ability to jump up the ranks if you work hard and provide value to clients and internally; lots of really talented people who are always looking for the next big thing.

ConsSome internal politics; have to work hard at making sure you can find balance

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to invest internally in technology

A place to stay and grow

Senior Account Supervisor (Current Employee) Washington, DC

ProsFantastic colleagues, challenging work. Edelman provides an environment where employees can get out as much as they put in -- opportunities to chart your own career path, propose new approaches to client challenges and travel to other offices through fellowship programs. We work hard but there is plenty of time to enjoy, as well.

ConsCommunication and cooperation could be better across teams and practice areas. In some cases, too much focus on individual P&Ls vs. the good of the client or company.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to enforce teamwork across groups and offices to reduce the "look out for yourself" or "what in it for me" mentality.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Washington, DC

ProsThe day-to-day work is stimulating and the culture is unbeatable. You're constantly surrounded by intelligent, compassionate people who care tremendously about the work they do and the success of the company more broadly.

ConsThe entry-level salary could be higher.

There's a reason it's the best firm in the world

Assistant Account Executive (Current Employee) Washington, DC

ProsSmart people, incredible culture, amazing clients. There's a work-hard, play-hard mentality that is prevalent throughout the office.

ConsLong hours, not the best compensation

    Fantastic!

Assistant Account Executive (Current Employee) Washington, DC

ProsThe culture at Edelman is fantastic, employees have a high level of passion for their work and the company. The independent nature of the company enables employees freedom to do their best work and achieve the best outcomes for their clients.

ConsThe salary could be better but they get away with paying people less because they are the best.

Smart, growth-oriented company with very talented people

Vice President (Current Employee) Washington, DC

ProsEveryday getting to work with really smart people to solve difficult problems for some of the leading companies and organizations. Unlike public firms, Edelman still feels very much like a family company. Much respect for the business ethics of the leadership.

ConsIt's a fast-paced, get it done and get it right attitude. This means working after-hours and responding to email and phone calls during times of client urgencies. If you are not accustomed to that lifestyle it can be a difficult place to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to lead, continue to push employees but always listen... to everyone at all levels.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
