I have been working at Edwards Lifesciences as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

It a great company if you are contract directly with them. Because I am working there thru a temporary agency we are not allow to have benefits with them even including Christmas celebrations.

    Cons

To get all department to work as a team is a big challenge there. If they understand that then I am sure will be the best environment there and successful company. Because we all are the company quality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The best thing is to educate all personnel to understand that their job is part of a puzzle and if we do this in a safe and happy understanding environment then all employee groups or areas will have same positive results.

    Pros

Company does a great job taking care of their people. Benefits are very good and if you move into a management position the pay is great also. The R&D folks work hard, from what I observed and innovation is fostered.

    Cons

There are many inexperienced people promoted at this company. With this, there are many directors, but not enough worker bees to get everything done. The company is heavily populated with engineers, but many of them are contracted. The company has a tendency to have good sized layoffs starting every fall, this includes contracted workers and permanent employees. As with many companies, there are way too many repetitive meetings and people who are afraid to make a decision. Most likely due to the inexperience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more Business Minded people and those who are intimate with the FDA for Regulatory/Quality positions.

    Pros

    Cons

Culture is counterproductive leading to in-fighting, posturing and job dissatisfaction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a closer look at BU leadership. Create a culture of fostering a positive environment where there is true collaboration and not one of internal competition.

I have been working at Edwards Lifesciences

    Pros

CEO Mike Mussallem is a leading edge thinker. "Life is now" is the company motto and taken to heart for patients.

    Cons

"Life is now" is not always applied to employees. The corporate culture has shifted as the company has grown from a small start-up to a corporate power house.

I worked at Edwards Lifesciences full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed working with very friendly and talented people. There is a wealth of information here for people that want to continue learning and there are great opportunities for people that want to become leaders.

    Cons

Too much focus on short term needs results in wasted efforts many extra hours on weekends. Taking personal time for vacation, or to care for a family member or even for a new baby seems to negatively impact your opportunities for advancement.
