I have been working at Einstein Bros. Bagels

    Pros

If you are a hard worker its very easy to move up in this company. I have watched people go from cashiers to General Managers with in months. No late nights. Very easy to transfer. I transferred from Utah to Illinois and it was a very simple process.

    Cons

Very early shifts, can be difficult if you don't enjoy getting up early. Pay isn't the best it could be. Employees arent taken care of the way they should be. Medical Benefits are a joke.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take better care of employees. Give better benefits and incentives.

I have been working at Einstein Bros. Bagels full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The only good things about working at Einstein's were the customers (when they weren't being run off by terrible management decisions) and the coworkers (the ones we could keep. Turnover is the highest I have ever seen.)

    Cons

The upper management (AMB and up) is totally clueless as to what goes on in the stores, what we need, and how to make the restaurants successful. The employees try really hard to keep the customers happy, but with that terrible of management, it is virtually impossible. I have wasted so much of my life trying to better this company, when I should have taken one of the many well-paying jobs that were offered to me over the years, rather than trying to save this sinking ship.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The entire upper-management needs to be scrapped and start over, or at the very least completely retrained. Upper management does not currently want to know about anything happening in the stores that is not positive, they really take the "fingers in my ears, lalalala I can't hear you" approach when it comes to any problems being brought to their attention. Randy Hilliard, in the St. Louis area, is a the model example of this tactic. His "management" skills are a total joke, and have led to numerous GOOD managers leaving the company because they could not work with him and his demanding, unrealistic expectations. He is running the entire St. Louis area into the ground.

    Cons

thw pay absolutely sucks and they make it way too difficult to get a raise, and if u ever get one, won't be more than .25 which is a bunch of crap

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to make everything better, you're just complicating the system even more

I have been working at Einstein Bros. Bagels full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

It was easy to get a job here, got hired quickly with no experience. Also, although it was busy at sometimes, it's not the kind of place that's busy all day - you had a couple hours to breathe when customers mostly stopped coming in. It was an okay job when we had enough employees and it wasn't the holiday season. And I liked most of my coworkers.

    Cons

Understaffed, poor training, worked too many hours, could get really busy, annoying manager, low pay, etc. etc.
When I started, there was no real training, they just hire you and assume your coworkers will tell you what to do and kind of leave you awkwardly standing there. My manager would not tell me how to do something properly, then wait until I did it and messed it up, and yell at me like I was supposed to magically know. Yet, when I did try to ask him something to make sure I knew how to do something correctly, he would completely act like I was stupid and be condescending. we lost a few employees and it took WAY too long for my manager to find new people to hire, so for like two months I was screwed into working 50 hours a week with no breaks (maybe 10-15 minutes to eat lunch if I was lucky) instead of the 35-40 I agreed to. This place got so understaffed that sometimes I would be the only person making the food for all the customers during a rush, so no matter how hard I tried customers would get rude because of how long their food took. Customers also test your patience but that's with any fast food place probably.

    Pros

    Good benefit package, Nice customers

    Cons

Long hours, Company doesn't reward performance. Haven't had a raise in 3 years even though I have contiually improved profit and sales. Been in top 10% performers in the company. Taken on multi-unit position. High turn over

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay better. Reward performance and tenure consistanly. Allow employees to receive tips.

I have been working at Einstein Bros. Bagels full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The hours for me are great, 9-530 usually. Pay is good and I have weekends off (can't complain there). Most of the people I work with are hard workers and will go over and above to help each other out. The manager is really great and he works really hard to keep this store up and running.

    Cons

Einsteins does not put any effort into training the employees, it's kind of like you learn as you go. The company doesn't put forth enough effort into making sure all employees are where they need to be i.e. great customer service, knowledge of products, having enough people staffed at all times, learning the menu... so on. I would love it if we actually got a 6 mo review, but unfortunately that doesn't happen here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More training please!!!
