I have been working at Einstein Bros. Bagels full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The hours for me are great, 9-530 usually. Pay is good and I have weekends off (can't complain there). Most of the people I work with are hard workers and will go over and above to help each other out. The manager is really great and he works really hard to keep this store up and running.

    Cons

Einsteins does not put any effort into training the employees, it's kind of like you learn as you go. The company doesn't put forth enough effort into making sure all employees are where they need to be i.e. great customer service, knowledge of products, having enough people staffed at all times, learning the menu... so on. I would love it if we actually got a 6 mo review, but unfortunately that doesn't happen here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More training please!!!

It was tough working with some of the older coworkers but the good was pretty tasty...so it balanced itself out.

    Pros

The pay was good, co-workers friendly, and customers were treated well. It was a good environment not including the quickness and space.

    Cons

not a lot of space in the kitchen and storage area to move around, it felt like we were rushing around a bit too much, though the second may have changed since January 2011

I worked at Einstein Bros. Bagels full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun crew, nice guests and corporate management is better than most. The pay is decent and the medical benefit are also pretty good.

    Cons

Opportunity for advancement is limited as the company seems to be struggling a bit. They are having store managers work at multiple locations so the assistant managers end up running the restaurant. The menu needs upgrading, and the décor also needs to be updated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of cutting labor, focus instead on food cost and better employees which will result in savings.

    Pros

Supportive managers and supervisors that provided the training needed for each job position.

    Cons

Disorganized and inefficient structure of having employees bounce around between various tasks as opposed to implementing a more efficient method of completing tasks.

I worked at Einstein Bros. Bagels full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Even as a shift leader or assistant manager, you never work later than 6 PM. EBB likes to boast that you'll always be home for dinner. The environment is very laid back. Management is incredibly relaxed.

    Cons

With management being incredibly relaxed also comes jobs being left undone. The store at which I was employed was always dirty and unorganized (FOH and BOH alike.) When I was offered a role in management, I was guaranteed a certain per hour rate, and accepted. About a month and a half later (that's how long it took to get my promotion rolling) I was told that upper management had locked in an hourly rate for my position that was lower than what I had been guaranteed. I had already accepted the job, and was furious, but with the job market as it was, what could I do?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to an employee's credentials. If they are the same as or better than the general manager of the store, perhaps they should be paid a little bit better? Know the market in your area. If you're having trouble getting diners to come in between 2 and 3, maybe you shouldn't stay open until 5. You're wasting money by paying employees to stay another 2 hours with very few sales.

    Cons

Generally understaffed. This lead to many complications in running an effective business.
