Former Employee – worked at Electronic Data Systems full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – EDS had one of the best cultures during my tenture. There was always lots of opportunity for career growth and learning.
Cons – EDS started to lose it way - starting with Dick Brown - as it brought in too many outsiders to lead the company. They lacked vision and leadership in an industry that Ross Perot invented.
Advice to Senior Management – Learn to lead, and reinvent the business/industry!
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Electronic Data Systems
Pros – Access to technical resources & references. Great teamwork, fellowship & support for each other. Great professional development. Great training opportunities. Great benefits - medical, dental, vision, 401K, stock plan, pension plan. Great growth opportunities. Great rewards - bonuses, raises, promotions, recognition, dinners, awards, prizes & other perks. Great review process. Great integrity, values, diversity & employee value & respect. Exclusive onsite support at a corporate account is a great environment. Don't need a degree to work there (opportunity for good, smart people to excel).
Cons – People working on salary remotely from home may work 80 hours/week and the work schedule may be devastating to whatever time is left: Meetings all day (9-6), every couple of hours, prepare for server changes all evening (7-9pm), work all night making server changes or waiting in queues for your turn and complete paperwork (9pm-7am), plus emergency on-call rotation, no time to take training or train yourself. The few hours you have left are to grab a bite, catch a z, run to store & try to see your wife & kids. I wouldn't recommend remote support from home unless it's paid hourly.
Advice to Senior Management – Build your company around your employees and train, train, train. Don't lay people off.

Former Employee – worked at Electronic Data Systems
Pros – The EDS culture allows individuals to respect their work and personal lives. The company stands by people who are committed and provides excellent career path and compensation. A lot of top managers are technical enough to understand the job that needed to be done.
Cons – Some top managements weren't as qualified. There was also some amount of communication breakdown especially when there was a transition (merging, separating, buying, selling of accounts and human resources) but that's understandable.
Advice to Senior Management – Leaderships at EDS should try to acquire the MBA degree. A lot of them are technical but may lack in leadership skills.

Current Employee – been working at Electronic Data Systems
Pros – Great group of coworkers in my department
Cons – The company has a great vacation plan but need additional days added according to number of years worked with the company.
Advice to Senior Management – The feed back I would offer is to became more lead back with the team members because the team need to see more of a natural side.

Current Employee – been working at Electronic Data Systems
Pros – There is good project work for talented people. EDS supports a broad range of technologies and there is always a willingness to move into new areas. There are some very good people at EDS, not all, but many.
Cons – Too many layers of management. Expenses are controlled by administrative types who have no idea what it's really like to travel on a regular basis. It is a large company, so many of the common complaints apply. Decisions are driven from the top. As a P&L manager, the business is no longer your own. This is a change that's taken place over the last decade as the competition and economy have tightened.
Advice to Senior Management – Fire the CEO. Ron Rittenmeyer has the carisma of a toad. He commands no respect in the industry or the company based on his actions.

Pros – EDS is a large corporation which provides stability and plenty of career opportunities. If you are inclined it can be easy to move within the company, to experience different job roles and to advance your career. For IT professionals the merger with HP can be expected to provide plenty of new career opportunities within HP.
Salary and compensation have always been reasonable.
Cons – The current merger with HP is expected to result in layoffs for US based staff. However it is expected that the merger with HP will also include plenty of opportunities for EDS staff to transfer to other roles within HP if they desire.
Advice to Senior Management – Attempt to diversify to other revenue sources.
