    Pros

A good number of clients and projects that they can place you on; however it is difficult to a transfer. They would rather lay you off. Management goes behind your back instead of asking you about what you are doing.

    Cons

The most political place I ever worked both internally and externally with their clients. At the time they had been working with 7-Eleven for 13 years and they still didn't trust each other.

    Advice to Management

I don't know how this can be done, but clean up the political mess. Try being honest with your clients.

    Pros

A consistent Paycheck. Decent 401(k) match. Ability to meet lots of people (since turnover was so high). Access to the internet during slow times

    Cons

Leadership constantly motivating you by saying "at least you still have a job". co-workers were idiots and they were the ones that everyone looked up to.

    Advice to Management

Be happy that HP bought you, it wasn't going to be getting any better anytime soon. Learn to really motivate your employees, not to demotivate them by taking away their pay.

    Pros

Learning something new ..being placed in different areas within the company to learn new things.

    Cons

Non-balance between advancement of experience within the company and salary reflection.

    Advice to Management

Due to such fast transistion between HP and EDS; customer satification or support has gone down as well as employee morale. Focus on existing customers and those employees supporting existing account so sustainable business is not lost.

    Pros

Great team, boss is decent a long time EDS'er and thinks well of the team's work. Challenging assignments and local efforts to boost ultra-low morale without providing more benefits or raises.

    Cons

Since the HP take-over, no hot water in bathrooms, counting light bulbs in work areas to see which can be turned off, hit and miss with cleaning services and floors are dirty. Most experienced workers are jumping ship for more stable and better pay. Pay cut after take-over yet we still receive e-mailed advertisements from HP to buy hardware from them that we can no longer afford, due to the mandatory pay cuts and raise freezes, how demoralizing. Workers that are laid-off or leave are not replaced and the work is redistributed. 24 X 7 on call availability is still required with less pay and benefits. At least those that are left still have a job...for now.

    Advice to Management

Realize that the people who work for you are your bread and butter. Treat them right and your customers will be happy, treat them wrong and your customers, and your business will suffer. Do not use short-sighted cost cutting measures to satisfy the stock-holders on the short term, but will ruin your business in the long term. Employees see the glaring compensation gaps between those in the trenches and upper management even more.

    Pros

    * Great name to get on your resume...EDS/HP
    * Global assignments
    * Will meet truly nice folks...
    * Will meet really talented folks...on their way out

    Cons

    * "Seniority" is questionable, at best
    * 10+ of experience with the company equates to stagnant thinking, ego-maniacal behavior, poor results...yet can "build relationships"

    Advice to Management

    * Instead of down-sizing the talented, innovative thinkers, who actually produce results...get rid of the dead weight--->folks whom have never worked with any other company and are exceptional in passing the buck, spouting corporate rhetoric and generally taking up space...and oxygen in the numerous meetings they seem to enjoy "leading", which serve as pissing matches, only to leave attendees annoyed, as they will simply have a minimum of 56 email messages (in 60 minutes), upon their return.

    Pros

Life at EDS before HP was acceptable. Managers, for the most part, were flexible with time off and work hours.

    Cons

Morale is at an all-time low (and this is post Dick Brown years). EDSers all have a target on their forehead. Even though it was mentioned, "EDS will retain its name and operate as an HP Company," that has changed. It is now HP Enterprise Services. All signs of EDS have been stripped from the building. The parking lot seems to get emptier every day. It's depressing.

Every day at work is just another opportunity to flex that target on our foreheads. I used to think highly of HP but being in their environment and seeing how things are done has really opened my eyes.

    Advice to Management

I think if HP realized the talent they have in front of them, things would be very different ... instead of capitalizing on this, they are flushing it down the toilet.

    Pros

10 to 20 years ago - the people, common goals, visible progress in the market
    and that's about it

    Cons

Poor middle management culture, unfamiliar with guidelines and did not set expectations with employees
Middle management culture decided to shut down communication with employees in order to avoid personal feelings of guilt as they cut people due to acquisition
    Salary not indicative of effort

    Advice to Management

Be honest to employees about what true impacts of acquisition will be - middle managers should tell their direct reports the impossibility of finding an internal position once notified.

part of an actual team that works well together
    great customer

    Cons

upper management is self-serving and clueless when it comes to caring for the people that actually do the work and are the true assets of the company.
The bottom line rules regardless of the longterm ramifications

    Pros

You can sit around and still get paid.

    Cons

The company has lost focus and can't setup a path regarding its core business. There is no innovation in the company and there is no culture left for it.

    Advice to Management

They need to close the business and management gap.

    Pros

Super technical environment, great knowledge amoung your co-workers.

    Cons

You have to beg for a raise, or bonus. Bully management philosophy, transitioned from another employer and every thing that they promised to get the account went out the window once we where hired. Its a take it or leave it bully management style.

    Advice to Management

    Take care of your employees!
