I worked at Eli Lilly full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Despite it's issues in recent years, the years I spent at Eli Lilly were some of the best / most enjoyable of my 20 year career. The companies' mission, it's people, and it's encouragement and resources provided both to it's employees and the community were first rate.

    Cons

The considerable downsizing in recent years hit so many good and loyal employees and their families hard. Many would have stayed with the company for a lifetime, had the opportunity availed itself. Sadly, market and other conditions decided otherwise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Concentrate on the pipeline, research, and the best employees. Stay strong. Stay for another 100 years.

    Safer Pharma Company than most...

I worked at Eli Lilly for more than a year

    Pros

It's been around forever. Family feel. Great diabetes pipeline.

    Cons

Lots of changes going on in pharma. Last year they laid off a huge percentage of the sales force and the attrition rates since then have been pretty bad.

I have been working at Eli Lilly full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Coming out of a postdoc Lilly provides great opportunities to grow, learn drug discovery, and still have some opportunity for basic research. They also treat their employees like family and consider them the most important asset. Lastly, the CEO is a scientist, which fosters an environment of faith that the company will be led in the right direction.

    Cons

Not the best pay compared to local competitors, but it is offset somewhat by other benefits. It seems unlikely that someone starting there career at Lilly will be able to achieve career goals without having to move out of the company.

I worked at Eli Lilly full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good base salaries, treats employees very well, upper management is accessible, even as a sales rep with no office still felt very much a part of my sales team, truly care about employees both inside and outside of work, excellent enrichment training as volunteer opportunities

    Cons

Very difficult to get promoted, if looking for a company with an aggressive sales approach this one is not for you

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make promotional process a little shorter

I worked at Eli Lilly full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Lilly was a great company to work for. They had many opportunities for personal growth and their benefits were outstanding. Salary was great for the industry and there were opportunities for bonus.

    Cons

The headquarters are in Indianapolis Indiana so you have to deal with winter. The promotion process can be difficult at times. It is a large company so change can be time consuming.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management tends to forget where they came from and how difficult it makes life on employees when they are so disconnected.

I have been working at Eli Lilly full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits and salary, and work/life balance. Love the patient focus culture, the balance between results and relationship building is great. The team goals are a great way to split the weight between each team. Great drugs and support from corporate.

    Cons

Engagement with some teams is lacking. No bonuses this year, no pay increase.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tie in corporate a little more with the field. It's also difficult to hear that we can make our own business decisions, yet we have to increase our calls per day? I thought it was quality over quantity? The focused is changed so much.
