Bad to worse in Tulsa, OK

    Resident Assistant-CNA (Current Employee)
    Tulsa, OK

    ProsNice residents. That is all.

ConsRevolving door. Big time. They have these 2 new nurses and along with one of the RCD's they are on a power trip. Fire for no reason, write everybody up for the smallest thing. ED could not care less. If you are a snitch you are it. You can be lazy and all. Constant call in's and no show. They do not drug test. You can imagine. Back stabing and hostile fearfull enviropment. Feel sorry for the residents because they are not taken care of. Full of nursing home patients. Just get the money. That is all that counts.

Advice to Senior ManagementNew ED and nurse's. New RCD.

    Love residents, staff poor

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsYou can't help but to fall in love with residents, they can make you entire day worth being there.

ConsLow staff, underpaid, crappy management, I work at the Emeritus in Fort Wayne ,IN and personally the only thing management is concerned about is filling rooms, they put people who are full healthcare residents in assisted living, it's about the check, as long as they keep getting the check they don't care about how much a resident is declining . They fix none of their issues with their staff . Poor environment!

Advice to Senior ManagementChange your family values, because all it's worth is the words printed on the paper. Your facility in Fort Wayne paints a to die for picture for the residents family , but underneath the surface it's a complete disaster!

    Wasted 2 years

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsWhen I started we had a wonderful management team. The staff are very dedicated to taking care of the residents.

ConsThe regional, division and corporate managers are not accountable to anyone. They seem driven to get their quarterly bonuses without regard to consequences.

Advice to Senior ManagementFollow up on what you promise.

    Management horribly dishonest

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Danville, CA

Prosno reason on earth to work here.

ConsChallenges are many. Executive Director had no management skills. Horribly non-supportive, altered performance review, denied raises to other overworked employees. She was unfair, non-compassionate, very misleading with seniors. Never a straight answer.

Advice to Senior ManagementLIsten to your seniors. If they ask for 1 computer give it to them. This is the time of their life when the little things really matter. Do not assume they will forget. Get your staffing up to par so that your community runs smoothly.

    Worse job ever

    Resident Care Director (Former Employee)
    Baltimore, MD

ProsThe residents and the hard workers

ConsPoor management did not support the other managers. Not honest. Would not investigate situations. Talked about you behind your back. Corporate in Seattle did not know what was going on and if they did shame on them

Advice to Senior ManagementBest thing that happened is they got sold and bought out. Hopefully this new group will not be hands off and they get rid of old emeritus corporate people

    Unethical Greedy Company

    Executive Director (Former Employee)
    Lubbock, TX

ProsSalary and good people to work with daily at the individual property level.

ConsThis is a national company on the stock market. They expect sales, sales, sales on a weekly basis and to boost profits any way possible. I was an Executive Director and could only tolerate their practices for 2 months before I quit. You are monitored by a regional team of directors who can come in and manage your property over you at any time if they think you are doing something that could affect them getting their bonuses. They do not value customers or residents at an individual level, only what they can make off of them. It was an ethical nightmare and I would not place my family member in this profit-driven atmosphere. If you are unsure, just look at their turnover rate for management in your local paper. Make sure you research this company well before you get on board.

Advice to Senior ManagementYour business practices are unethical and you can still be a profitable company if you remember that healthcare can make money while still providing excellent care. The greed of the upper management and those at regional levels for big bucks should be investigated further than the PBS investigative report done in 2013 exposing the "shut the back door" business model to ensure you squeeze every resident for cash. These are humans....

Sinking of the Titanic has begun

    Executive Director (Current Employee)
    Seattle, WA

ProsResidents, staff who care about residents, paycheck.

ConsPoor work/life balance. No comp time even when you work 7days a week 70-80hrs each week. Pays on very low end not competitive. Only focus is revenue/occupancy not resident care or taking care of employees. Greedy power hungry upper level management who operate by threats and fear of losing your job. VP constantly saying "I am done with you having 1 to 2 vacant apartments each month" Company culture has changed drastically in last few years. Worse after Frontline story aired. Frontline care staff hours cut to the bare bone, budget cuts, no investing back into communities. It seems company is in big trouble.

Advice to Senior ManagementAsk yourselves is this truly the legacy you want to be known for? Don't ask yourselves in the boardroom, but ask yourself this at night when you lay your head down on your pillow.
