    Pros

Great work environment. Love the community I work at.

    Cons

Better methods of training. Needs better way of training and support from regionals.

    Advice to Management

More hands on, supportive training for management.

  6. Successful community due to the efforts of a visionary Executive Director

    Pros

Hands down, this community's greatest asset is their Executive Director. This person is a visionary leader with innovative ideas for improving assisted living communities based on the combination of latest technology and old-fashioned human warmth.

    Cons

Micro-management tendencies by less-experienced managers combined with budget cuts due to an impending takeover (merger) restrain me to giving only a 4-star rating. High stress levels are often evident in key employees due to heavy workload demands.

  7. Helpful (1)

Rewarding, at times challenging with the demands of the families and high turn overs.

    Pros

Culture! Emeritus has been a wonderful company to work for - they are supportive and encouraging of growth.

    Cons

Pay. You have to love what you do to work at Emeritus (or in the senior living industry in general). Its a matter of the heart, not a matter of the wallet.

    Pros

The company beleives in their family values and supports the staff in delivering on them.

    Cons

The mission statement can get lost in the shuffle and the Brooke Dale merger has created some uncertainty.

    Advice to Management

Keep the family values and let go of the cornerstones.

    Pros

Friendly staff, nice facility, team approach to caring for the elderly

    Cons

I work for both Emeritus and Brookdale and I find my work experience at Emeritus far superior to Brookdale. The Emeritus facility fosters team work and caring; the Brookdale situation is all about intimidation, threats and the profit margin. Emeritus respects the professional's opinions and recommendations; Brookdale does not. Right now, I really dread having Brookdale take over Emeritus operations. Could be my work situations are isolated instances; and, it depends on the bonus structure and who is more aggressive about obtaining it.

    Advice to Management

Do away with the bonuses because it breeds dishonesty and contempt in an industry geared to caring for the elderly.
