    Pros

Company focuses on quality education for their staff and makes decisions based on what is best for their residents. They allow and encourage us to reach out to seniors in our community to make sure they are safe through our "safely somewhere" program. Our "shade brigade" program provides us the opportunity to send staff out into our community to assist seniors who may be at risk for dehydration by taking them a cooler packed full of ice cold waters and other items to assist with hydration during the hot summer months. The company is always thinking of ways and equipping us with the items needed to take care of seniors not only in our company but in our local community.

    Cons

It is always difficult to loose a resident that you have grown attached to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to require staff to live by the Emeritus Family Values, it makes a huge difference in resident and staff satisfaction.

    Pros

Emeritus supports the growth of their employees and wants to make a difference every day in the lives of the seniors entrusted th their care. They allow you to grow and learn.

    Cons

It's always hard working in an industry where, unfortunately, the ones you care for and love pass away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

I've worked for Emeritus for 7+ years and have worked my way up from an ED position at a community to a national role with the home office. It is by far the best company culture I've ever had the honor of working in and the company truly is a "family". I've never had to question the focus and direction of our leadership - the message has consistently been "Do the right thing for our residents and employees. Every day." The company is progressive and is committed to smart growth that will enable wonderful development opportunities for the employees while providing the type of care that I would want for my own mother.

    Cons

I really don't have any cons. One of the other great things that Emeritus has started over the past year is an Individual Development Planning process which opens the conversation with our supervisor to plan our own career growth. If there is a con, I guess it would be that I wish this process had been around 7 years ago.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Never lose your ability to be real people who truly listen and are interested in your employees. I'm so proud to work for a Senior Leadership team that exhibits such egoless clarity.

I have had the opportunity to work at a community as well as at the home office and both experiences were great! The company culture is unlike any other company I have ever worked for. Co-workers are so encouraging and caring. This company has a large opportunity for growth and you are recognized for your hard work. Pros

This is really a good company to work for, really. I don't have the skill set to care for the residents myself, so I do what I can and support our employees who do. My boss even told me if I ever felt like I needed a change to let her know, so she could find me another position. Who does that?! I've never had a job in which I felt we were all on the same team, helping each other along. My voice is heard and appreciated, and I know at the end of the day that what I'm doing makes a difference.

    Cons

People can always complain about some aspect of their work, but I'm the kind of person who will work to make any changes that need to happen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We appreciate the tireless devotion you have to making a better life for seniors. Thank you for always showing your appreciation for our hard work too.

    Pros

This company cares about the residents and their employees. It starts at the top, they truly are passionate about providing the best care for the Seniors, they work hard and support the employees. I love this company! Looking forward to many years with this company and hope that those who have created negative experiences for some of the not so good reviews have moved on because the leadership team is a dedicated group, everyone is passionate about the work we do and I'm glad I chose this company.

    Pros

Getting paid to work with Seniors, do the right thing everyday making a difference in peoples lives and living by the philosphy "Safely Somewhere" which means we will go visit Seniors still living at home to make sure they are safe, have meals, medications and help lined up if they need it. It is a very rewarding career! They also provide opportunities for growth if you are looking for it. It doesn't matter if you are a caregiver or housekeeper so will give you training and support!

    Cons

I work long hours- but I choose to because I enjoy what I do so much! It is more like a calling than a job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to stand behind your committment to our Residents of "Our Family is Comitted to Yours" as our residents come first! And encouraging us all to live by the golden rule of doing to others as we would like done to us! If some employees don't believe this or think it isn't being done this is not due to management standing in your way it is because you are not doing it and are looking for someone to blame.
