I worked at Emerson College full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I loved being an RA. Best job I've ever had. The people are wonderful, it's a creative environment, and I learned a lot. I can't speak to it just as a place of employment since I was also a student, and an RA is kind of an unusual position to review since it means that where you work is also where you live but...

    Cons

For a communications school, Emerson has some pretty poor internal communication. We communicated well in OHRL, but the institution as a whole could use some work.

    Pros

I love everything about Emerson! I couldn't imagine going anywhere else!! So many great connections to be made and networking.

    Cons

Changing majors is hard. Not the best financial aid.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go here only if you're sure that communications is what you want to get into.

I worked at Emerson College full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

A student will discover interest and skills in an area they had no idea they liked or existed.
Boston is truly you campus while at Emerson. It's the most amazing experience.
Students learn from both professors and each other.
As an alumni people often describe you being so good because "she went to emerson"

    Cons

So much is learned outside the classroom that grades are sometimes weaker and that doesn't translate well for grad school.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

keep cross pollinating departments. Let marketing kids market TV shows and films, and have theatre kids audition for films. Avoid a niche.

I have been working at Emerson College full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

High level of professional and career individuals who went on to become faculty afterwards. College is well-equipped with film, video, production, post, studios and audio equipment. Performing Arts program has outstanding performance spaces.

    Cons

Politics play a role in many things as they do in most of academia. Urban campus limits available space for expansion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase faculty salaries when possible and hire more tenure track lines.
