I worked at Entergy full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The pros of the the company are the money and the benefits of being an employees. You can have a long career if you play good politics.

    Cons

Too much politics and nepotism. Too many engineers in business operations jobs and there is no true and honest filter on management. You can be targeted and forced to work without proper pay if it helps certain egos or feelings

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time making sure the people that are actually working in the company have more of a say so in what happens

    Pros

Lots of dedicated workers trying to do the best!

    Cons

Not everyone is motivated and some have to pick up the slack, but I guess that's pretty much anywhere

I have been working at Entergy full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Defined benefit retirement plan.
Pay is good for the area.

    Cons

Most departments where I work are understaffed. Many employees are close to retirement and counting the days until they can retire. Knowledge transfer from older to newer workers has been poorly managed. Horrible attitudes within the workplace. We transition from 1 crisis to the next without time to catch our breath. Poor performers are not remediated/demoted/fired. Good performers are rewarded with more work.

I worked at Entergy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great employee benefits and training outside of customer service.

    Cons

Constantly changing policies without notifying employees of the changes within a timely manner. Everything had to go through corporate communication departments. It seemed that everyone was always in the "dark", even middle management in regards to where the company was going. Customer service was a joke - the company constantly hired new people to fill an empty seat.

I have been working at Entergy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Good stable job
Lots of opportunity to learn different things
The company is large so can move around and spend your whole career here

    Cons

Not the most high tech industry
    Somewhat out of touch management
Over reliance on external contractors to do engineering work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to spend more time and focus on developing and training employees.
Focus more on doing the right thing and broaden the recruiting base.

I have been working at Entergy

    Pros

While a relatively conservative company, many of the younger leaders are pushing for innovative ways to conduct business more effectively and efficiently.

    Cons

It can be very frustrating in seeing projects through to fruition, mainly due to the layers and layers of bureaucracy and office politics that must be navigated. Also, the most qualified don't always get promoted to higher levels of management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to get a better grasp on the importance of creating a more productive and open environment for younger employees as many of the employees are nearing retirement age.
