I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car

    Pros

I liked the fact that they hired students right out of college and granted the opportunity to gain experience

    Cons

Management is really inconsistent that the business can't be run correctly. This company give their employees promises they can't fulfill

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Weed out the bad employees in upper management

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good training and development. Resume booster and hire straight out of college.

    Cons

12 hour day minimum. High stress environment where company lets customers disrespect employees daily. No work/life balance and working to earn managements paycheck while you are stuck on a very low hourly pay. The speed of promotion they sell to you during interview is highly unlikely and little to none progress that fast. Very political company where promotion is based upon connection not qualification. Promotion qualification changed 6 months after starting at enterprise. rules change constantly and it feels like prison. Employees seem to lose morals within the company and start mingling with one another regardless of marital status.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees and give them a better work life balance. Fair pay for fair hours is something to consider. Focus less on a dress code and more on employee satisfaction/retention.

    Cons

Hours, Management, Hours, Cleaning Cars in a Suit and Tie, Hours, Pay, Having to tell people you work here. Literally made less than $6 an hour and worked 70+ hours a week.

    Pros

The Comradery is great. You meet great people

    Cons

No work life balance. Low pay - if you make too much you will be let go. Everyone gets paid from the same pot so the more you take out the less there is left for your management. Dealing with the public can be trying.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase pay and adjust commission structure.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You can choose your own schedule as a CSR. Great Car Rental Discounts For Employees!

    Cons

Changes recently made to the company allow you 3:45 min to take care of your customer and you are in trouble if you do not make your call times! Bonuses are impossible to meet now with all the changes, and you do have paid vacation, but almost impossible to get an approval! Most likely because we are short staffed!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let us give Great customer service and go back to no call times!! In Training we are told Enterprise was named after the USS Enterprise that the founder served on, and yet we do not provide Military discounts. You over load the phones and do not have enough staffing to give the reps a comfortable day ie we have back to back calls for eight hours and adhere to 3:45 min. talk time!! Work Life Balance is a thing of the past.

Enterprise is a stable company that offers a lot of training for their management trainees.

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

-Most of the employees in the office our between 22 and 27 years old. If you are 30 and still working in a branch then all of the sudden you are "old". The coworkers are fun and outgoing. The culture is very tight nit. Most employees hang out outside work and are a great network of friends.
-It is fairly easy to get promoted and you can easily work your way up to branch manager in 2 or 3 years. Upper management doesn't tell you that this is a result of the high turn over. Turn over for Management trainees is more than 50% in the first year.
-There is a good amount of job security. They will not fire you unless you literally "try" not to do your job. As a management trainee you will not get fired unless you are absolutely terrible at sales. As a Manager you will only get fired if your customer service scores are terrible.
    - The training program for new employees is very good.
    - The company values are good and it is an ethical place to work. They TRULY care about customer service and will do ANYTHING to give the customer a great memorable experience.
    - You will learn a lot in your first few years. Enterprise will challenge you and give you way more responsibility than you can handle. It supposedly builds character.
    - Time off is average and benefits are good.

    Cons

    - There is no work life balance in the office. As a management trainee you will work 50 hours per week. As a branch manager you will work 50 to 60 hours per week. There are required after hours events (sales trainings and meetings) that managers are not compensated for. Managers are also expected to study and train management trainees after hours. This will burn out even the most motivated employees and upper management does not care.
-You will not make as much money as you expect or as upper management lets on. Most managers make around $50,000 per year.
-The turn over and constant movement of employees is very draining and challenging. You will train a new employee every 3 months on average. You will only keep employees on your team for 3 to 4 months on average so the result is a ever changing team.
-As a branch manager you have a lot of responsibility. Upper management treats managers like they "own" the branch, but they do not compensate for that type of "ownership"
-When you leave Enterprise you will walk away with A LOT of sales and customer service experience. You will be told that this is great on your resume, but in reality it is retail experience. I advise that you get promoted to branch manager and then look for something else with better potential. I was at Enterprise for 5 years and I should have left about a year sooner.
-After you are promoted a few times as branch manager there are very few opportunities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your employees and cut back hours to a realistic schedule. Give managers annual raises to keep them motivated. Don't force employees into promotions if they are happy in their current position.

    I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car

    Pros

Friendly people, nice management. We had fun in the office.

    Cons

I washed cars daily while wearing a suit. I picked up strangers to bring them back to the branch. It never bothered me at the time but in hindsight it was not safe. Also they lie to customers, telling them a certain car will be available when its not.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car

    Pros

-quick advancement if good in sales
-training is very thorough and useful
-sales recognitions at the end of each month are pretty nice (TPC). If you do well in sales then you will be invited at the end of the month, I have gone every month that I have been with the company (10 months).
-Most management is very helpful in your career development

    Cons

-Low pay (Hourly rate for a management trainee is $13.92 and for a management assistant is $14.99)
-Low base salary for management. I believe that my branch manager makes a little over $30k plus he gets a cut of the operating profit. Which that can sometimes be very low because there are things that can happen that can seriously affect your paycheck that you cannot control. For example if somebody wrecks your $70k Yukon and has Damage Waiver, good luck eating for the next 6 months.
-Too many hours, I work a MINIMUM of 50hrs per week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to management is to increase base salary for management and entry level employees. I am one of the top performing individuals in company history and I am currently looking around for another job because of the cons listed above. Yes you can make a lot of money working here but your responsibilities exceed your pay.
