    No work life balance

    I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car

    Pros

Promotions happen somewhat quickly and more money is associated with that, but also more time. Busy almost all day long with phone calls, paperwork, and people coming into the office. Wear many hats. Expect to work through lunch or scarf down lunch at your desk.

    Cons

Highly underpaid, NO work-life balance. Work many hours beyond office hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide employees with the support they need. In particular, more staff.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Benefits are decent, promotions within but only if you know the right people or have no life, great company values if only all managers would actually live them.

    Cons

Poorly trained, incompetent managers, rigid work environment, anachronistic ways, promotions through mostly nepotism, no tuition reimbursement, lower salaries in comparison to the industry's overall average for most position, non-existent life/work balance, & micromanagement is popular.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less micromanagement, more training and experience needed for managers, bring the dress code to modern times, and compensate and motivate employees to retain talent instead of driving them away.

    I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car

    Pros

You get to work with educated, driven, positive people, and as a manager some of the best employees you could ask for. The company gives you all of the tools necessary to advance, so if you want promotion and are willing to learn the business it will happen.

    Cons

    1. Work hours are considerable and I couldn't recommend Enterprise to anyone that isn't a young, recent college graduate with no family.. as you will rarely see them.
    2. Customers are generally terrible to deal with.. partly due to a lack of consistency in the execution of policy and the "regulars" that recognize this can be very nasty.. especially as they know that they can behave in any manner they please and still get what they want, whether they are right or wrong.
    3. As a manager you will be expected to say "yes" to unreasonable requests within unrealistic time constraints, give it your all anyways... just to be greeted with customer complaints.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are very few Pros for working at Enterprise, one of them would be cheaper car rentals if you travel, also they match 3% of your 401K.

    Cons

They will work you until you are blue in the face, then once you stop producing numbers they want to see you are out the door. Its very high pressure sales, some parts of the company they make you cold call for hours until you getting a meeting set up. There is a false hope of having a work life balance and they one day you will make more money and work less that 50 hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Only let you employees work 40hrs per week, also reward hard work. After all "We work hard and reward hard work" is one of the founding values that is rarely followed through.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time

    Pros

Mostly good people, if you can deal with a few bad apples who only care about results, then you can have a successful career at Enterprise.

    Cons

If you don't produce, you will get pushed out. As an MT, the pay is not worth the hours or the idiocy from customers, accounts, and branch and area/regional management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop promoting employees who only know how to sell to management. You are setting these employees up to fail because most don't know how to run a branch, and the training they receive from most branch and area management is only geared towards sales or esqi.

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Benefits were ok though they are partly taken out of your salary. This job will make you thick skinned. The one thing I did learn was to never over promise but to over deliver.

    Cons

Hours are long, normally 45-50 hour work weeks. Pay salary was $25,000, so if you average that out to hourly, it was enough for what you had to put up with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees as humans, not slave workers.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You can move fairly quickly up the corporate ladder if you are able to perform successfully in regards to sales and other corporate standards. There is no seniority that any employee has to overcome, there have been Area/District Managers who are in the mid to late 20s. You learn quickly how to sell the product and how to handle customer complaints. They do have a great benefits package offered to employees. You do learn how to culture and run a business. If you love sales, and don't mind working in the automotive industry, then working your way up may be appealing for you.

    Cons

It's a pyramid scheme. They sell you a dream, that if you work these 11 to 12 hour days, you'll make a lot of money. The people you work with are generally great, but the heavy 11 hour customer service mess that you have to put up with is very overwhelming, and I have worked in customer service for nearly 7 years. And, having made it to a managerial level, the compensation is crap. To require that everyone who works there has a college degree but only pay their employees $10/hour (I am a manager, and that hourly rate was on my last pay review) is ridiculous.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Looks good on a resume. Great job right out of school to learn professionalism and sales. Opportunity to network with potential contacts for future jobs.

    Cons

Work life balance is way out of whack. You will easily work 55-60 hours per week starting and it goes way up from there once you get in to management. You are expected to accept customers' abuse with a smile on your face and then give them whatever they want or upper management will come down on you and give it to them anyway. Company sides with customer over employee regardless of situation, even if customer is caught in a blatant lie. You will work at least every other Saturday and will be forced to skip lunch once you get to be an assistant or branch manager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix staffing first and foremost. There is no way employees should be forced to miss lunch to keep the business running. There simply are not enough people in the branches to keep them running. You are wearing your employees out and the best ones are going to keep leaving for greener pastures.

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great place to learn and grow out of college just don't buy into the hype and stay to long. 2 years is about all that's needed anything more you are just wasting your time. Good benefits and good people at certain levels of the company.

    Cons

No work life balance, seem to promote employees with questionable ethics. Upper management is unreal with expectations and could care less about their employees because very few stick around for long.
