I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Provides a lot of opportunity for business-based knowledge and experience.

    Cons

Not much room for advancement. Upper management could use lessons on how to treat people...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't trick your employees into doing things for you. Be clear about what you are needing and wanting them to do. Don't get them to agree to one thing, then stonewall them with what you really want them to do once they have agreed. If an employee is doing well and you need their assistance to help YOU out, and that task puts a financial burden on that employee, compensate them for it! She makes a six-figure salary; I made a small fraction of that. Upper management should not have to resort to trickery to try to get what they are really seeking from their employees. If you need help with something specific, just ask! She knew that if she told me upfront what it was she wanted me to do, I probably would have declined. Instead, she presented it to me in a different manner. Once I agreed, that is when she dropped the bomb. TOTAL COWARD! A level 3 manager should not be using these tactics. I lost all respect for her and the company at that point.

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You learn so much about business and running a business. The benefits are pretty good and depending on the region you can get a lot of valuable sales training. You get to drive a lot of different cars! Can be financially rewarding if you can stick it out for 10+ years and kiss the right amount of butt.

    Cons

The hours are unreal for the minimal amount you get paid. You will work 48 hours (documented) and more as you climb the ladder and you are lucky if you get a lunch break some days. The customers can make you lose faith in humanity at times when they get upset over the most ridiculous things. (retail, yay) All your nice clothes and shoes that you are mandated to wear will be ruined very quickly from cleaning and washing cars. I am not complaining about the car washing part because that is actually a nice break from the insanity that goes down inside the branch. You are a sales person selling insurance to people that have insurance and your career depends on it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Seriously you need to update your pay structure or how you schedule employees. Maybe try two shifts so people are not at the branch 12 hours or more a day. Also just because someone can sell your damage waiver and other "insurance" products really well does not mean they have what it takes to run a branch. Considering your business model you do want to have strong sales leaders but they need to be more well rounded then "well I was real good at selling "boat".

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The pay is 58k, company car and looks great on a resume for other companies.

    Cons

No work life balance, open 7 days a week, un-obtainable goals, cleaning cars in a shirt and tie

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you're going to promote taking care of your employees, then actually do it instead of saying it! No one is happy working in this company and thats a fact.

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Enterprise Rent-A-Car offers great car discounts and a chance to move up (if you know the right people). During the course of your time at ERAC you have the opportunity to meet a lot of interesting people. Nice resume builder.

    Cons

When starting out at Enterprise there is not a lot of flexibility. There is a rigid strict schedule to adhere to. Low pay when starting out. Sometimes goals are unobtainable.Always on your feet and work load can be stressful at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better relationships with lower level employees.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very fun place to work. You will make a lot of friends and learn the back and front end of how a business is run. You get to see reports that no other employer would show their employees. Very honest and ethical.

    Cons

Sometimes 60 hour work weeks. The time off you get you're too exhausted to even do anything because the days are so hectic and demanding. Retail hours with retail like customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember, these are kids who probably still live with their parents who you are training. If you think they are valuable to your branch be flexible with days off and try not to overwork them or they will get burnt out on and leave.

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great business training program. Great benefits. Competitive sales and customer service culture.

    Cons

Your initially over worked and underpaid. A lot of circus hat tricks, lies and manipulation from all around to get "ahead". Only the strong will survive: high sales numbers, great customer service and a winning personality. Once in management it's all about who likes you, and if you have super stars beneath you. Typical politics

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take advantage of the stellar training and use your talents else where. ERAC is an awesome resume builder.
