    Good Start to a career

Management Trainee (Current Employee) Columbia, SC

ProsGreat potential to promote, work experience here looks great on your resume

Consnot enough work/life balance, professional dress to wash cars... not for me

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on providing more support to middle management. They are the front line of what a management trainee comes into contact with, and it would be best if they are prepared and professional towards the management trainees. Only one assistant manager in my branch conducted himself in the appropriate manner.

Management Assistant (Current Employee) Raleigh, NC

ProsWill gain personal growth and develop great relationships

ConsWork 50 plus hours a week. Plus work every other Saturday. Pay grade does not match up what is expected out of all the time

Advice to Senior ManagementFind a way to cut hours because we all know that you are not going to pay more

    Hard work can pay off

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Pittsburgh, PA

ProsGreat experience right out of college. Great co-workers, for the most part! Great for you resume.

ConsOnce you become a manager it is highly unlikely you will move up any further and will work twice as hard. LONG hours.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork harder and get promoted, so others can too.

If you want to work in sales

Management Trainee Intern (Current Employee) Phoenix, AZ

ProsGreat company culture. For the most part most everyone you will meet is friendly and outgoing. They put a lot into training their employees and preparing them for work. You learn sales and there is opportunity for continued employment at the end of the internship.

As an intern balancing school and work, they are very flexible and understand you have other things going on.

ConsThe company downplays the amount of sales you will be doing. Sets false expectations for what other skills the intern is hoping to acquire or work on.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement is great, but when hiring be sure to specify that the majority of the work the intern will be doing is sales.

ConsVirtually no work life balance, little pay for extremely exhausting work, constantly cutting corners in the branch.

Advice to Senior ManagementPractice what you preach.

    Branch Manager

Branch Manager (Current Employee) Portland, OR

ProsAwesome company culture. ERAC has great intentions, environmental platforms, ethical standards and a progressive thought of doing what's right for its employees. You will meet some of your best life-long friends working for this company! As a manager, pay is decent if you perform and the company car perk is great.

ConsManaging 22 year old college grads with no work experience is very taxing. There is something about the car rental industry that breeds nasty, manipulative customers who take advantage of our "always do the right thing for our customers" approach. Work-Life balance is non-existent. The more hours you put in, usually the better you will perform. The biggest headache in my opinion is that recruiting/area managers are often hiring just to get a body behind the counter, rather than hiring for talent. Because of this, revenues suffer and "training and development" quickly turns into performance management.

Advice to Senior ManagementHuge disconnect between group rental managers and actual branch staff. Get your level 3's in the branches and out in the field more.

Great work experience, especially if you're into sales. Met a lot of great people.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsI love the people that work at Enterprise. I've had one subpar manager that ended up getting fired. Other than that, the people are my favorite thing about the job. Most of them came to be my friends and we hang out outside of work. I've also learned a lot about sales, cars, and the transportation industry. Enterprise's training program is also held in high regard to other companies, which is beneficial if you ever decide to leave the company.

ConsBe willing to work very long hours. 7am-6pm is the norm. You also need to be easy going. Customers will yell and say rude things to you so you have to be willing to take it from them and not argue back. The phrase "the customer is always right" sums it up pretty well. But management will usually back you up.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe flexible with employees' schedules.
