I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car

    Pros

Great training and people. They really know how to support you and are willing to give you days off if needed. Lots of corporate exposure for new trainees. Lots of cross training in every department.

    Cons

Very long hours which resulted in lack of work life balance. People tend to burn out very quickly. Lack of mentorship programs for struggling trainees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to your new trainees. Keep them motivated. Once they lose it, it's very difficult for them to recover and they will leave.

    Pros

Enterprise will teach you to manage different types of situations from, employees, customers that are upset (constantly), accounts that think cars grow on trees. This will all help you grow as a person and a professional.

    Cons

The most frustrating thing for me was the hours worked everyday and now more and more branches are opening on Sunday to put even more strain on already an understaffed and over worked operation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

At the end of the day the 2.5 years I put in have help my career but cleaning and renting cars to unappreciative customers and accounts.

    Pros

Great training program. highly recommend for a newly college grad to start out with this company in order to gain lots of experience in running a business from all angles, start getting commision as an Assistant Manager, and there are several departments within the company and if one doesnt work out you can alway look at another deparment

    Cons

Be ready to work hard and lots of hours. Commision paid once you become an Assistant Manager

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

good benefits, great place to meet new friends. Paid maternity leave with a really great 'phase-back' program. Lots of departments, therefore there is room to move up, and they typically prefer to promote from within.

    Cons

In rental, you are expected to work 50+ hours/week and get paid in peanuts. You're lucky to have two days off a week. In claims department, you are expected to do 50+ hours of work in 40 hours so they don't have to pay you overtime. No bonuses EVER. They say that they 'pay competitive salaries' which is completely false- they pay significantly less than similar positions at other companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your people more!!! Staff appropriately!! Pay bonuses and stop overloading people in the claims department.

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

You have the chance of meeting a lot of people if you pick them up or drop them off. It's good for networking if you're picking up or dropping off business executives. Everyone at the branch is young so most of the time your interests are the same and everyone has a genuine personality for the most part. They do promote from within so you can be making six figures just a few years out of college.

    Cons

The pay is terrible for how hard you work on a daily basis. The hours are terrible. Multiple times I was working 12 hour days throughout the week. The bright side to that is overtime pay. I worked there in the summer as an intern and you have to dress professional in a blazer, nice shirt, and skirt or black dress pants for women, which of course is fine. However, when you're running around showing cars to customers, or picking and dropping them off, it can get physically demanding. Also, the Branch Manager was not my favorite and I would try to avoid her as much as I could. She just wasn't friendly at all.
