I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You can move fairly quickly up the corporate ladder if you are able to perform successfully in regards to sales and other corporate standards. There is no seniority that any employee has to overcome, there have been Area/District Managers who are in the mid to late 20s. You learn quickly how to sell the product and how to handle customer complaints. They do have a great benefits package offered to employees. You do learn how to culture and run a business. If you love sales, and don't mind working in the automotive industry, then working your way up may be appealing for you.

    Cons

It's a pyramid scheme. They sell you a dream, that if you work these 11 to 12 hour days, you'll make a lot of money. The people you work with are generally great, but the heavy 11 hour customer service mess that you have to put up with is very overwhelming, and I have worked in customer service for nearly 7 years. And, having made it to a managerial level, the compensation is crap. To require that everyone who works there has a college degree but only pay their employees $10/hour (I am a manager, and that hourly rate was on my last pay review) is ridiculous.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Looks good on a resume. Great job right out of school to learn professionalism and sales. Opportunity to network with potential contacts for future jobs.

    Cons

Work life balance is way out of whack. You will easily work 55-60 hours per week starting and it goes way up from there once you get in to management. You are expected to accept customers' abuse with a smile on your face and then give them whatever they want or upper management will come down on you and give it to them anyway. Company sides with customer over employee regardless of situation, even if customer is caught in a blatant lie. You will work at least every other Saturday and will be forced to skip lunch once you get to be an assistant or branch manager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix staffing first and foremost. There is no way employees should be forced to miss lunch to keep the business running. There simply are not enough people in the branches to keep them running. You are wearing your employees out and the best ones are going to keep leaving for greener pastures.

Fast Paced, Promoted on Looks, Athlete's always preferred. Not a career, most people leave with-in the first year.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It teaches you how to interact with people. Fast paced environment, before you know it the days over. No one retires from this company unless they work for the corporate office. 1 out of 2 leave there first year and turnover is high, so there are always new openings "If you look good, thin, athletic and white or black". Sorry but if your Hispanic rarely do you find a area manager or corporate manager to be of Hispanic background. You could live in California where the majority is Hispanic and still not have a Hispanic upper management. This is corporate America and you have to look a certain way. All American Athlete.

    Cons

No family life, even MORE now that the company is starting to open some area's 7 days a week. 55++hours a week. They only promote you if they want you. If your athletic and are pleasing to the eye you'll be a manager in no time. Sexual Harassment, prejudice jokes, and inappropriate conduct occurred 24/7. Example, if a Mexican or Black guy came in to rent a car "we would make sure they qualified", sometimes we wouldn't do the extra work because we were scared if the guy would steal it. Lots of drinking management always sleep around. They use to take us managers to Disneyland for a corporate retreat, but to many people sleep around and many divorced there wife right after.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My theory was "A leader leads by example". This never happened, when it came to problems with customers I was always the first one to help out and create a solution. At times I did things even when I didn't have the authority to do so. Why, because management thought that they didn't have to do anything unless the customer came to them. Control your stupid frat parties. Your culture is drinking, this promotes a stupid culture. Don't sweep things under the rug, that's why Enterprise is always getting sued.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Easy interview, can move up quickly if you know how to sell, pay is decent, great team atmosphere for the most part

    Cons

Long hours, even longer when you get promoted. Very little support from upper management when you need it most

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't weigh everything on sales. Some people are natural when it comes to sales, others have to be introduced to realize they can sell (like myself), others just don't get the sales aspect and never will. Don't hold it against your employees if they can't sell. A successful manager can still motivate and inspire others based on their attitude alone, regardless of whether or not they can sell. Reward ALL of your hard working employees, not just the ones who make you the most money

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car

    Pros

The people you work with are awesome, everyone has a good personality. There is a lot of opportunity within the company to move into different departments.

    Cons

Work life balance is tough. You work Monday through Friday 8-6 and sometimes Saturday and Sundays. Expect a minimum of 50 hours per week. If you are considering taking a position ask what they staffing is like at that branch. If they are understaffed don't do it you will be miserable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't base promotion strictly on sales.
