I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good pay for out of college, and a great amount of experience. The people you meet and communicate with on a regular basis help a large amount.

    Cons

hours are ridiculous, they also don't seem to help out for your commute. They put you in the office they think will help their revenue or customer service scores the most. They don't really seem to care that you have to drive very far. Pay is low for the amount of hours, although you can't complain if its your first job out of college

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promotions come from sales, from my experience they seem to promote the people who don't worry about learning the business process but who ever sells the most. In the long run those people who sell do get a better grasp but it effects the management quality in my opinion at the branch levels.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are plenty of social/networking events, you are able to advance your career as fast or as slow as you'd like. There are many different business mixes for you to find your niche . Everything you do is involved with teamwork. There are great people all around.

    Cons

There is almost no work life balance in rental at least. Work too many hrs and not enough pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find more opportunities for employees to have more of a life. Other than that i think the company is great.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Great opportunity to for career advancement within the company. They are constantly promoting employees, and only promote from within. The people who work there all have outgoing personalities, and are very nice. Company values are strong and respectful.

    Cons

Time demanding, which may conflict with personal goals outside the workplace i.e. going out and hanging with friends, traveling, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Enterprise only hires part time drivers, three days a week. They are not real selective about the drivers, good record gets you a job, pretty easy.

    Cons

The hardest part is shuttling cars from the lots up to the airport, very tiring work. Every day you never know who you will drive with or what you will be doing, or where you are going.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Drivers need to be paid more salary. This can be hard work in and out of cars all day, driving in traffic for very little pay. I knew guys that drove for 3-5 years with no salary increase in Austin.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time

    Pros

You get great experience in both sales and training. It's a great job for right out of college and looking to gain experience. Great opportunities to promote within the company as well as learn how to manage your branch and think/act on your feet. Great social marketing. Great for your resume. Good managers stand behind their employees.

    Cons

Long hours under sometimes stressful conditions. If the branch is a 7 day operation, you work more and are with your family less. Under paid for the stress/work level. Customers can get out of hand. You have to do a lot yourself if a manager is not around. You can be thrown into situations and left to solve problems yourself when a manager should be making those decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider compensating your employees at the branches better. They are on the front lines of the rental business and they put up with a lot on a day to day basis.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great for college grads that need to gain experience. The best thing about Enterprise is the environment. The really do promote their founding values and it is a fun place to work. Even though you often have to deal with customers that are not in the best mood, you have the support of you fellow employees and branch/area managers. Lot of potential for upward growth within the company if you work hard. It's has a real vibrant team work ethic. Great benefits including investment matching. Many of the people I have meet will be lifelong friends.

    Cons

Its not the best paying job in the world. They pay you hourly starting out and if your a family man then you have to make sure your hours are enough to cover your budget which means sometimes working extra weekends etc. Plenty of money if your single. Advancement is merit based but some areas have some inane requirements for promotion to Management which are based largely on luck and not skill. I have been told several times that I am ready for promotion but I can't be promoted because I do not fulfill all the requirements whereas people that are not as skilled get promoted because they do meet the requirements primarily for being in the right place and the right time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better pay means better retention. Requirements for promotion are a good thing, they make people work harder in the beginning and help the company grow. However, most people only work hard to meet them and do not care too much after they have meet them. Allow for more flexibility with how can be promoted. There are several people that I work with that should be promoted but have not. Also, if you are doing all the work of a manager as an MT, you should get paid and promoted accordingly.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car

    Pros

Good first job to learn about sales. Decent salary if you are right out of college. Good benefits.

    Cons

Work 50 to 60+ hours a week only because that's what the sign on the door and your managers tells you to work, more if you are a manager. There will be times you are so busy you don't have to!e to breathe and other times you sit and do nothing for hours. All they care about is your sales, they don't care how you do it and if you make the customer mad you just write off the sale and keep selling. Cleaning cars in all weather in dress clothes. Unless you are a recent college grad and can't find anything else stay far away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't make everyone work every hour the store is open. A half day is not 6 or 7 hours. Train managers to manage people not just make the company money.
