  1. Needs a better training system.

    I worked at Envestnet

    Pros

The employees are very nice and try to train the best they can ( no real training procedures in place)

    Cons

Low pay, high turn over, no real structure when it comes to training. The demand is high to produce with very little perks (bonuses and raises).

    Advice to Management

Increase salaries (& bonus), having a "nice" manager will not keep employees from looking outside of envestnet.

Some good people, but incompetence at many levels

    Pros

    -Work/life balance was pretty good
-Very social atmosphere and many young people
-Very entrepreneurial and able to make an impact if you know what you're doing
-The company serves a real need, so it has done well despite many missteps

    Cons

-Very chaotic and disorganized, with many senior people in way, way over their heads
-Many managers and executives are incompetent, although they were very arrogant and bought their own hype
-Pay was not competitive and bonuses were laughable
-Extremely political; the ability to suck up was more valued than talent or competence

    Advice to Management

I don't think they'd listen to any advice...

    Pros

Company growing, promotion potential, benefits adequate

    Cons

No work flexibility, difficult to get permission to go to a doctor's appt without being frowned upon, conformity a must, ability to work from home but management refuses to allow it unless you know the right people, lower management unprofessional and untrained on how to manage people, constant criticism without reward, growth has been too fast and training program is non existent, but you are punished for making mistakes without being properly trained. As another reviewer said, and many at the company as well, it's a job, not a career.

    Advice to Management

Try some flexibility, realize getting the job done correctly is more important than conforming to a manager's power trip, offer management classes, hire mature management internally, realize retention is valuable and pay for experience. Ask employees about how management is doing, reviews only go down and not up. Consider the big picture and work styles to get the most out of individuals, employees are more motivated when they can trust their superiors and don't feel like their boss owns them.

    Pros

Good people to work with for the most part. Work-Life balance is okay but could be heading in the wrong direction if they aren't willing to pay more to get and keep talented employees. Growing company on the forefront of their industry.

    Cons

The lack of communication seems to be overwhelming throughout departments. Recent changes in management style is leading to more micro-management and more working hours. Under-staffing is becoming an issue. The compensation and benefits are awful in comparison to the industry. Management is completely out of touch. There was almost no praise or recognition (verbal or otherwise), but you will be blamed for mistakes made by lack of training and ever-changing systems.

    Advice to Management

Allow more flexibility and trust to your employees. Understand that the high rate of growth of the company is leading to confusion and inconsistency in daily tasks. So much growth is only sustainable for a limited amount of time. Give more recognition and encouragement, and treat employees like the valuable assets they are to your company.

    Pros

Talented colleagues for the most part. Decent compensation, very good technology.

    Cons

Benefits were pretty cheap, medical in particular. The technology was good but the firm also tried to do too much. Some of the functionalities are too complicated to use hence nobody uses them despite significant cost to build.

    Advice to Management

Ease of use is more important than being all things to all people.

    Pros

The management does not micromanage. They provide life insurance for free in the amount t of your salary. They contribute up to 2% of your income to your 401k.

    Cons

The management is unappreciative of hard work. There is a lack of training. The pay is awful. The workload is high, the staffing is low. You work a lot more than 40 hours with no thanks and no compensation.

    Advice to Management

Provide training. Give credit when credit is due. Reevaluate your compensation because a lot are under paid and some are over paid.
