Good technology but firm has a bit of an identity crisis

Regional Consultant (Current Employee)
Boston, MA

I have been working at Envestnet full-time for more than a year

ProsTalented colleagues for the most part. Decent compensation, very good technology.

ConsBenefits were pretty cheap, medical in particular. The technology was good but the firm also tried to do too much. Some of the functionalities are too complicated to use hence nobody uses them despite significant cost to build.

Advice to Senior ManagementEase of use is more important than being all things to all people.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Poor pay, lack of training, lack of appreciation, however you are not micromanaged.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Denver, CO

I have been working at Envestnet full-time for more than a year

ProsThe management does not micromanage. They provide life insurance for free in the amount t of your salary. They contribute up to 2% of your income to your 401k.

ConsThe management is unappreciative of hard work. There is a lack of training. The pay is awful. The workload is high, the staffing is low. You work a lot more than 40 hours with no thanks and no compensation.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide training. Give credit when credit is due. Reevaluate your compensation because a lot are under paid and some are over paid.

Entry level

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Envestnet

ProsGood colleagues, room to improve if self motivated, No bond therefor good place to work for a year and move out.

ConsBad Management, never hired/paid employees according to the academic qualification. Politically driven, less chances for career growth, low employee concern, cheap benefits, hard-work never appreciated (only in words)

Not a good place for techies

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Thiruvananthapuram (India)

I have been working at Envestnet full-time for more than 5 years

ProsSome of the good things about working in Envestnet is that there is not much of a work pressure, work life balance is good.

ConsIf you are a core techie then Envestnet is not your place to work. There is no room for creativity or innovation. The technical work force they expect to have are robot coders that do piecemeal coding without questioning any design decisions. The core technical team or the "super architects" still suffers from founders syndrome and any suggestion for improvement of the platform will invite hostile reactions. The technology in use is outdated and the methodologies used are primitive. The senior most technical team members are unaware of the latest advancements in technology. Any change that happens is reactive, often as response to a threat from a competitor.
