I have been working at Equifax

    Pros

Fellow employees are great (for the most part)
Very interesting industry to work in
real desire to be an innovative company

    Cons

Lack of senior leader understanding on how essentially fully outsourcing IT will impact long term ability to innovate and grow revenue.
Tolerance for missed commitments is far worse now than with previous leadership
Senior leaders allow themselves a level of extravagance that is laughable when you see the extent of the cost cutting that has gone on elsewhere. Total disconnection to the environment that the Equifax world off the exec floor are forced to work in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hold your leaders accountable - for the good and the bad. M&A Strategy and talent need an overhaul.

    I worked at Equifax

    Pros

Fair pay and benefits. In addition flexible work schedules are often permitted.

    Cons

In years past there was usually a shared sense of loyalty and common purpose between management and employees. That has been completely discarded under the new management imported from GE (Rick Smith). Morale has truly bitten the dust. The new performance review forces ratings onto a bell curve per group. Only ten percent are eligible for an outstanding rating. If your group is small, say 10 people, then only one can be rated outstanding. That also means that one person must be rated poor. That person's name is guarenteed to be on the list for the next round of layoffs should they occur. Imagine how this affects the morale of a group if they are all above average.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect for employees costs nothing but can yield large payoffs.

Good resume builder, beware if your looking for security as layoffs are random and spontaneous

I have been working at Equifax

    Pros

    Good salary, flexible work schedule

    Cons

TOP DOWN MANAGEMENT, No input into decisions requested from worker bees, Fear of layoffs constant, administrative nightmare, disparite systems, silos with no communication or coordination between departments. Only a self reliant and resourceful person can survive

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Where do I start ? How about that you all should lay yourselves off. Um, try speaking with the employees once in a while that helps, how about having layoffs face to face with an HR rep present. Also, completely reorganizing processes yearly never brings results. Good luck with all the customers you are going to lose by having telephone reps cover 90%. Thats a guaranteed $5 to $10 million in business that will walk out the door in 2009 as the other bureaus cherry pick your accounts.

    I worked at Equifax

    Pros

It is great place to work for 6 months, then you find out that they are outsourcing all of IT to India.

    Cons

Outsourcing of IT. Also they don't promote their own employees. Equifax hires Sr Management from GE.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop outsourcing the IT department. Also 99 percent of the VP and higher were hired outside of Equifax.

I have been working at Equifax

    Pros

Where I work is a good group of peole and was kind of like a family. New management has come in and started making their changes. I've been through my fair share of change but the new management style has a strict chain of command and does not want to deal with you if you haven't followed the chain.

    Cons

This is a new management team to the finance area after being acquired. New management works as a "click" and if you're not in the click it will be very hard to advance. At this point, there is unsteadiness in the dept.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to learn to communicate. Lack of communication is how rumors get started.

I have been working at Equifax full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    good pay and travel.

    Cons

Chile's office is very corporate and it seems like you have to fight the power to get something done.
Zero training, the only training i had was how to evacuate the place in case of earthquake.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The usa people try to deal with the latam people not knowing how to do it. Colonization in 2014 is not nice.
They disrespect the culture and the way of doing things assuming everythings wrong. Im sure the company spent more in travel and "team building dinner" expenses than what was actually invested while i was there.

I worked at Equifax full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Equifax has a comprehensive interview process . Candidates will believe they are hired based on high performance history. There is a strong focus on previous experience, knowledge, skills and education. Overall, employees are committed.

    Cons

There is a serious issue with execution. Although, the current economy makes maintaining and growing business challenging, this is easy compared with the herculean effort to meet, let alone exceed client expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Demonstrate versus preach a client-first focus. Sales people and customers are not necessary evils of business and are key to maintaining market share and growing the business. Walk your talk, treat people the way you would want to be treated.

    I worked at Equifax

    Pros

Equifax is a great company, been around for a very long time, well respected in Corporate America. The benefits are pretty good as well.

    Cons

Equifax is a company that values internal relationships. People are promoted by "Who" they know and are friends with. Not if they're great fits or can help the company grow. The Director and Manager I worked under were not good Managers at all, they were smart individuals but knew absolutely nothing about establishing and encouraging trust and encouraging their employees to be the best they can be. They were promoted because they did things to make their superiors look good. Under their guise, learning, education and appreciation were not promoted.

I don't think many people at Equifax who are in Management positions are actually "good" managers at all.

Also, I think many employees are severely underpaid. After leaving Equifax, every job I interviewed for paid at least $20K more per year. Long hours, bad pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think Senior Level Execs or (SLT) should require all Managers to take courses on how to effectively manage. Great company, great vision, great CEO but from my experience wrong people in certain management positions. This is my opinion.

I have been working at Equifax

    Pros

Stable company as opposed to others in our current economic environment. CEO has diversified the product offering which has brought new revenue to the company. The company seems to be financially stable.

    Cons

Management by intimidation still exists throughout all levels even after six years of the current CEO. He promised to resolve these issue but it appears now that he is comfortable, focus has moved off the things most employees were looking forward to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remove the management that continues to intimidate the employees. When a company post great numbers for a fiscal year, at least reward the people that are still there with a 3% increase. Average for most is 2% and has been for three years. Start delivering on your promises.

I have been working at Equifax

    Pros

    Learn about leading data analytics solutions in the consumer credit industry;
    Build up experience in financial services;
See how businesses across all industries use consumer credit information to market and retain customers.

    Cons

    The company fires people out of whim, primarily based on likeability and cultural-fit;
    Does not innovate in a timely way, due to the dominant market share and mature industry position;
Company support in employee training is very limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please consider how employees think when you fire a lot of people in a short period. It is very demotivating and damaging the morale.
