Strong Global Growth but Forgot People Make the Difference - Not just C-Suite!

I have been working at Equifax full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Leader in their markets - data solutions
    Strong global growth strategies
Making significant improvement in execution of strategic growth initiatives

    Cons

Use of "one team" and "meritocracy" are sound bytes that sound good, but c-suite doesn't execute what they say. Rolled-out "connections" global broad banding compensation plans that resulted in significant reductions in incentive compensation. C-suite awards themselves with high performance marks, large raises, significant stock grants & options (50% of total 2012 went to c-suite) whereas everyone else must fit into bell curve and most receive 2-3% merit increases.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Eliminate buzz words and begin treating and rewarding employees as if they were your #1 assets.

I have been working at Equifax full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very flexable work environment. The ability to work from home in most locations. In the beginning of employment with this company the incentives had me pumped-up. The sky was the limit! If you worked hard you got what you worked for.

    Cons

The overall salary is pretty low considering the pay cuts in incentives year after year (last 3 years) . Few pay increases or very low increase (2% or less per year). Commission and bonuses are depleting year after year to the point that there will be none as the goals on most quota are unattainable or out of your control. The health care cost has jumped up by almost 40% per pay period with less coverage in 2013.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If your employees achieve record breaking profits don't decrease incentive plans and increase heath care cost. This will only bring morale down.

I worked at Equifax full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very stable company and the location in midtown is ideal. Coworkers were amicable
Tools to do the position were very accessible and made it easy to do your job

    Cons

    Direction
Management sometimes changes direction without telling the individual contributors.
layoffs all the time. The company is always concentrating on meeting the bottom line at the expense of the employees who they do not seem to value very much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This company can be a good company to work for if the focus is to make it a place where people can have a career versus just a job.

I have been working at Equifax full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Good Pay
    Good Benefits
    Flexible Work environment
Interesting problems and technology to work with

    Cons

Senior management does not understand technology
Very old school use of technology
Processes put in place now make it take weeks to just get a server or desktop upgraded. Things that should take 10 minutes now take weeks to get done.
    Schedules are a joke.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some people into leadership positions that are forward looking when it comes to technology. Try to come to an understanding that Equifax is a technology company dealing with all the issues and opportunities that come from dealing with Big Data. We don't need anymore ex-GE people running the company, with the amount of data we have and deal with, we need ex-Facebook, ex-Google people working for the company that have a vision of what is possible with all the data we have. Try to move us into the 21st century and stop using a 1980 model of technology and processing of data.

I have been working at Equifax

    Pros

Great, committed associates who are willing to help, willing to share ideas, etc.

    Cons

Major cultural shift in a key segment leading to several key leaders "retiring" early. Ambiguity in true direction and double digit ++++ growth objectives causing much head-scratching.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You hired some talented folks from outside. But they don't "get" data, don't understand how our customers are utilizing to drive results. Balance external hires with internal talent.

I have been working at Equifax

    Pros

Equifax is a large company and has good benefits. Equifax has decent technology and really good people for the most part.

    Cons

Large company. States that it is a meritocracy; however, if you do a great job and exceed expectations, it might be "calibrated" down to meets expectations. Communication is often, but it's sometimes what they want the employees to hear. Location is in midtown which is not great for someone in the northern suburbs.
