    Pros

Your coworkers are the best thing about working at Esterline Defense Technologies. If you are well liked and not an engineer, you will also be given many opportunities to advance.

    Cons

Engineers don't have many opportunities at Esterline Defense Technologies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If I could summarize into one piece of advice, it would be to listen carefully to your engineers. They aren't as satisfied as you think they are.

I worked at Esterline full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

It was good working in a smaller company, however, had the resources of a larger corporation. Could usually get a project in the works as long as one could prove return on investment.

    Cons

Not much in the way of collaborative management at the time. Most things passed from the top down for direction and projects. Corporate office stuffy. Not very personable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow the employees to have advancement options and career growth. Really seek the input of the staff and also help them to buy into the projects, not just setup what will be done and then implement.

    I worked at Esterline

    Pros

One of the largest employers in this small resort town.

    Cons

They reward longevity over merit and ignore incompetence, while expecting star employees to cover the slackers. But, everyone receives the same percentage salary increase.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Meet with newer employees (up to five years) and listen to their complaints and suggestions.
