    Pros

Small company that is currently in expansion. Annual bonus, tuition reimbursement, 401K and benefits.

    Cons

Some of the managers are very inexperienced. Makes it very difficult to depend on them for direction. A lot of work and we are under staffed. One of the benefits is home access but, there are many restrictions on its use.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need better managers and more staff

I worked at Esurance full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Co-workers are fun
    Training staff is fun
    Free coffee and tea
    Clean Bathrooms and Office

    Cons

Sales compensation is totally blown out of perspective as compared to what Esurance says in the Sales Agent job description. You will make $50,000 if you're there all day 7am to Midnight everyday. Realistic Salary with bonus is about 35k.

Lots of talk from management about things getting better and more pay and better spifs and more incentive money in the future. After about a year and a half of all of this talk my pay has decreased about 45%.

When you attend the company's Quarterly Town Hall meetings, where they talk about where the company is and where the company is going, it is always so fake! Sales Management loves to talk about how many calls we've taken as a company and NEVER talks about how many of those calls were converted or how much money we made as a company. It's pretty obvious that his annual bonus is determined by how efficiently and how many calls the sales agents take.

    Slowing Growth

    High Turn-Over

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize that the companies "Growth" is only short-term and temporary. All you are doing is just cutting rates temporarily so that you can steal customers from competitors in the short-term. Interesting how after 6 months those customers go back to their former insurer and then repeat this cycle. Geico, and USAA are NOT doing this. Those companies lower costs on the corporate side of things and offer more incentives to their sales force. They recognize that the Sales Force is the lifeblood and heart of any successful company. Esurance is cutting resources from the "heart" and the whole body is beginning to shut down. Esurance "fixes" this issue by hooking up to "life support" (Allstate). Remember "life support" is expensive and only covering up the real problem.... A bad heart (burnt out salesforce with no reason to stay).

    Pros

There is no real pros of working here unless you have no life outside work.

    Cons

    1. Expects you to work insane hours.
    2. Middle management comes up with their own rules and the feedback system does not let you review managers/team leads.
    3. Gives hard time in earned time off.
    4. Expects to work on weekends with no comp off.
    5. Hires people by reference and hence they promote people who already know managers.
    6. Little growth and career shaping.
    7. No appreciation (not even verbal) for the amount of work you do.

I worked at Esurance full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

None. I can't think of any.

    Cons

The sales dept was run by people who had no concept of selling policies that would stay on the books. Constant pressure to "get the customer's money". Management had the nerve to berate the entire Rocklin sales team for being crappy salespeople, while refusing to admit the realities of how time zones and time of day affect sales and call volume. Additionally, the company had ceased all advertizing in the 6 month "quiet" period before the sale to Allstate could be announced/approved...but the sales dept's required goals continued to be ratcheted up every few months with a new compensation plan. Favoritism was rampant, and the morale in sales was in the gutter. Managers were quitting right and left, and HR at the Rocklin location said they would not deny our claims for Unemployment Insurance because they knew how horrible the management situation was in the Sales Dept.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management style is diseased and needs to be changed. However, I doubt Allstate cares much as it's obvious they bought the company to be their "subprime" insurance carrier in the greater Allstate umbrella of companies.

    I worked at Esurance full-time

    Pros

It was a job that paid the bills. That's all, nothing more nothing less. Management is a joke, especially upper management.

    Cons

No work/life balance...to management your life is work.
Pay...HA, what a joke. The "bonuses" were cut by more than half after Allstate bought the company in 2011 and then we were constantly lied to that we were making the same as before.
No career advancement opportunities, unless you were kissing someones butt and those that did get promoted were very unqualified.
Claim to be family friendly, but again another lie.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

These are people who are doing the sales and making this company money, try to remember that. There is a great lack of morale on the sales floor and nothing on the horizon shows that it will change. I would never work for this company again.

    I worked at Esurance

    Pros

Great location in SF financial district and free refreshments available at SF office.

    Cons

There is no chance for growth unless you are a suck-up or bootlicker.
Low pay, expectation to work 24/7. Low employee morale and productivity as all sticking out until the immigration clears.
Managers keen in the fat paycheck/huge bonus and overworking the teams. Managers don't take no as an answer from subordinates and will never say no to their seniors. Most managers are long tenured employees promoted within with outdated skills.
Senior management repeatedly fails to understand how software development works, there is only focus on how the end result will be bug free.
Highly political environment. No effort to get it done right. Plenty finger pointing. No clear accountability.
No good decision taken by Senior management to fix or understand any issues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire people in IT development who understand software development fundamentals. Hire managers that care about the product/people and company and not just paychecks.

    Pros

They have jobs but you're better off looking elsewhere.

    Cons

They expect you to work more than 60 hrs a week. They also offer very low salaries even in some of the most expensive job markets. No work/life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees fairly and give them opportunities for work/life balance.

I have been working at Esurance full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

decent salary, some nice managers, if you are lucky, you will get a decent one.

    Cons

Where to start.....Absolutely cut-throat....do not assume that 8.5 years of being a very good, hard-working employee will protect you from anything awful, because they do not care about you in any way. While it is common to have to continuously "prove" yourself in a sales environment, they are extreme in their disregard for long-time, good sales people. They do not value true "salespeople", and do not make any concessions to try to keep you happy. Forget making plans/commitments on your off days, because your schedule will change (and sometimes dramatically) every few months. Forget feeling any sense of security, you will have none, and you will have to continuously meet higher and higher expectations to not only receive a bonus, but to even keep your job. The Good news is that if you don't like something, it will almost always change, unfortunately, it will not be in your favor. As I said, run away as fast as you can to avoid the misery of this job!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize and reward your true "salespeople"! Consider creating an environment of trust and support instead of threats and fear. Set reasonable standards and stick to them...Realize that your salespeople will not be at their best when you constantly change their schedules and threaten their employment with your company. Be Fair and reasonable!

    Pros

Job stability.Strong Marketing team. Can't think of anything else.

    Cons

H1-b sweat shop..Horrible place to work for IT folks..No planning from senior management. No work life balance for IT folks. If you want to spend your weekends working on legacy applications, this is for you.
All the good reviews are from a recent email sent out to all employees to provide a review on Glass door. Most of the positive reviews are from Sales/Customer representatives who seem to be happy. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Worrying about the quality than quantity would make this a better place to work.

I have been working at Esurance full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I think the only pro for working for this company is free coffee and if you don't have a life they keep you busy.

    Cons

They expect you to work insane hours. If you work 8-5 everyday, that is not sufficient for them and mid - management would point that you. Lot of people hired on referral basis and they work for the same team. Manager would hire his friend to work in the same team as his and then the game of favoritism begins. The review is not 360 degree so there is no way you can provide input on your superiors. People quit as soon as they can. Overall lot of politics needed to thrive in the company. They expect you to work on weekends and provide no appreciation for that.
