Not Worth It

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe Pay is very good.

ConsThe company does not value their employees. The company is very money driven so they will say and do what they must to get students to attend.

What the world can't see

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Everest College

ProsThe school really does help that student that is in the in between stage in life. No Everest isn't an Ivy league school. But we do change lives, we do care and yes our company makes money. What business doesn't make money?

ConsThe school should have some sort of entry requirement before allowing a student to enroll. Each geographical location has employer needs specific to its location. If the school cant play to the needs of the employer and adapt its destine to fail.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive raises, promotions and pay fair market value to those employees that make the company profitable.

Make this your last choice

Instructor (Former Employee)
San Bernardino, CA

I worked at Everest College part-time for more than a year

ProsLearning experience, working with all types, can transfer to other locations

ConsThey always make sure your hours are part-time so they do not have to pay benefits, very disorganized, most teachers are unqualified, must pass students even if they are failing as you must keep your numbers up... Very unprofessional.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt should be about the education, not the numbers!!

The focus is on the sales force, other employees are incidental and irrelevant

Finance (Former Employee)

I worked at Everest College full-time

ProsNice environment, very visually appealing. Technology was up to date. Benefits were phenomenal when I worked there, but given the decline of the proprietary education business, I expect this is not the case any longer.

ConsThe company's sole focus is on getting students enrolled. The sales force is structured to offer numerous promotions, raises throughout the year, recognition, awards, trips, etc. Other employees are not treated equally. Raises to non-sales employees are annually, if at all and the raises are small. The company is mired in middle management. I spent half of my work day on conference calls or going through redundant emails from middle management that, 9 times out of 10, were something they just forwarded from corporate.

The career education industry is in decline. Enrollments suffer at these schools and many of them have gone through restructuring and lay-offs to stay in the game. Additionally, the Dept. of Education continues to pass legislation that makes it difficult for career schools to maintain eligibility. I would caution anyone looking for long term stability against a career start here.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat all employees equally and work towards efficiency and equality.

Part Time Instructor/Babysitter

Adjunct Instructor (Former Employee)

I worked at Everest College part-time

ProsGreat hours for a part time position

ConsBabysitting for grown adults, many should not be in college. Instructors need to be "helicopter parents" to their students! You need to call students who do not show up to class and keep hounding them to do their work. No time to "teach" (this is NOT teaching!).

Advice to Senior ManagementThis is not a real college so why do you have overqualified instructors doing clerical work?
