    Pros

    Exposure to a variety of projects. Opportunity to engage in meaningful work.

    Cons

    Company administration could benefit from more innovation and adopt best practices set by peers. Distance from a large city could be a factor in this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Create more administrative positions and build larger administrative teams. I was hoping that my internship would have been able to turn into a full-time experience. Nonetheless, I am grateful for the time I spent at Excela Health.

    Pros

    If you live close to the facility and salary and beenfits are not an issue, it will suffice.

    Cons

    Excela, sadly, does not value their employee, as demonstrated by their lack of adding points back for extra help from the employees above and beyond; coming in on a day off to help / working 55-60 hrs. a week in a salaried position, etc.. - no reward system for the good things done, but definite points off for any other infractions..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Initiate the same payback system with "reward points" as you have with points off - point for point. Seperate out sick time, PTO & Holiday time off, raise salaries across the board. Value your employees!

    Pros

    Fantastic people to work along side of. Nice benefit package. Community focused care and involvment within the communities that are serviced. People really care about patients and co-workers.

    Cons

    As all companies, we can strive to do better with communications.

    Consistency and communications. This has improved, but we still have work to do. Changing culture is a very difficult task but we are achieving a more effective, patient centered care culture.

    Pros

    I appreciated the benefits. The hospitalization, dental and vision benefits were very good. They are very generous and covered family and spouse. Paid time off was also very generous.

    Cons

    A lot of politics. Who you know is important when working there. Difficult to make improvements at times. Easy to identify problems, not so easy to correct them.

    Allow staff to covey problems. Management look the other way or don't want to acknowledge there are problems in their areas.

    The staff and nursing leadership for the most part are friendly.

    Cons

    The organization does not nurture its staff or develop a trusting and respectful relationship with the staff and the leadership
    Too many initiatives going on at the same time. Some refer to it as "Flavor of the Week".
    Organization is unable to set a strategic direction.

    I Work with some really great people, and I love taking care of the patients. I have learned so much in the past 5 years there.

    Cons

    Poor incentives for going back to school.
    Non-competitive pay for employees with experience.
    The upper management is poor.

    Start caring about your patients, instead of money. Learn to value your employees, they are your biggest assets.

    Pros

    You work with great people (for the most part), you are compensated well for your work (in my experience) and management fully delegates and empowers the workers. Good benefits.

    Cons

    It is very easy to be pigeon-holed into a position. The corporate group is relatively small at this point and therefore opportunities for advancement are limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Open up the company to corporate internships and allow employees to seek business/corporate degrees and be able to move up through the company.
