    Pros

    Employees are great, salary is excellent

    Cons

    The top notch upper management of years past is gone. CEO is scattershot with actions.
    If the drug ever makes it big time, then this place will take off again.

    People are seemingly hired and laid off as part of an overall strategy rather than cross-training.

    Pros

    Great use of automation and for a time, a wonderful depth of genetics knowledge throughout the company.

    Cons

    Once assays were set up by hand, many managers were reluctant to automate anything, despite high repetitive stress injuries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus on the long-term development of the people, and their loyalty will give you the FDA approval you crave faster than any "focus on execution" or other popular phrases I've heard.

    Look after the interest of employee as much as yours. Majority if the people wok there are good people.

    the company has a lot of nice coworkers to work with;
    Some promising projects;
    small company envirenment;
    comparable compansations and benefit;

    Cons

    unclear direction from upper management;
    some employees were not hired for the right experties;
    Minimun or limited communication from upper management;

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The upper management should understand the important of hiring the right experties for the right position;
    The company is on such a tight budget, wasting time and resource to train people on the job is not the best practice right now; probably in the future, when the company is in better position.

    I worked at Exelixis

    Pros

    - fast-paced decision making; little of the glacial pharma approach
    - emphasis on "critical path" goals
    - generally good colleagues
    - opportunities to learn

    Cons

    - expected pace of work and of timetable for deliverables is kind of ridiculous sometimes
    - sometimes projects come (and go) without clear reasons why (at least not clear to the little people)
    - definitely NOT a nurturing/"we care about the little people" kind of place

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Communicate important company news and goals more often, more clearly. Show that you care about your employees as people rather than as cogs.
