    Pros

Great work environment, lots of anatomy and respect. Challenging work where you are adequately supported. Benefits are good for a family, and the company is large enough that your SO can work here as well (without it getting weird). Lot's of training and room for advancement. Career is very much self driven.

    Cons

Company is big, and you can get lost within all the other folks. Very slow to change an established process. Red tape, and a fair bit of it. Sometimes it's hard to get constructive feedback on your career progress. There is a lot of ambiguity in regards to roles and how to achieve the next position, e.x. Analyst II to Analyst III.

    Pros

Great company to work for. Always something new to learn and no fear or getting laid of.

    Cons

Too many groups and policies to follow to get your work done. Mostly a waiting game.

    Advice to Management

Management is great depending which group you're a part of.

    Pros

There is great opportunity for advancement if you are willing to seek it out and voice your opinions to your manager. I also love that I feel secure at my job and their no layoff policy. All in all I have had great experiences working with Expeditors and see myself for the long-term.

    Cons

The compensation can be a lot lower than at other places, but you also get 100% paid healthcare, which I think makes up for that a little.

    Cons

    Strict dress code
    Lots of meetings

    Advice to Management

Too much job training at the start made it hard to get excited about working here.

    Pros

Great benefits, easy going, super nice people to work with, no threat of ever being laid off.

    Cons

Lower than average pay, and there are too many meetings that get in the way of actually working.

    Advice to Management

If someone gives you a bare minimum range of pay, and it's already reasonable, don't try to undercut it even more.

    Pros

good career advancement opportunities depending on your group, good work/life balance, no stack ranking of evaluations/reviews. we give merit increases, stock options for outstanding efforts, and end of year bonuses for outstanding efforts. fully paid health care for you and your family - you only pay the deductible and it's outstanding coverage! fully subsidized ORCA cards. Great people, great culture.

    Cons

terrible vacation policy, no special perks like sodas or snacks (you want to give your team donuts, fork over your own money), no HR department makes hiring and employee grievance issues a real time and soul sucking endeavor as a Manager. incredibly inconsistent application of polices, if they even exist. pay is well below market for many desk-level positions, if salaries on glassdoor are remotely accurate. bonus structure is odd - you get a % of any increase of operating income (OI) over the same quarter the previous year, but your base salary is reduced drastically once you're put onto the bonus structure (and you have no choice to be on it). If the OI doesn't go up a hefty amount every quarter, you could stand to lose money vs. had you not been put onto the bonus program. In the IS department, you're so far removed from operations that it's not fair to tie your income to operating income... and those managers that slack off get the same piece of the bonus pie as you even if you work your butt off.

    Advice to Management

reassess vacation policy and make any adjustments fair to everyone - the last one infuriated those that were between 5 and 10 years' tenure. Sure you want to entice new employees and reward those that have been here 20 years, but don't stiff those that have made the commitment to work here for the long haul. Think about an HR department. The ER department can't do it all and doesn't, I'm sad to say, try as they might. Institute 360 degree reviews so we can begin to cull dead-weight, particularly in the management ranks.

    Pros

Great pay, lots of opportunities for advancement in management. Company is very smart financially and very loyal to its employees.

    Cons

Organic growth limits diverse or best practice approaches since employees whose only experience is 'the company' enter management without knowledge.

    Pros

The fresh commitment to a focused company growth strategy is creating an environment of renewed enthusiasm throughout the organization globally.

    Cons

At times the focus on priorities and new strategies can create change that is not well communicated. This can lead to people feeling uncomfortable and unsure of the future.

    Advice to Management

Stay focused on executing against the growth strategy. Take the time to think through the impact of change and communicate clearly to all employees.
