Great people all around you, but disconnected upper management. It has evolved in the wrong direction

Senior Account Manager (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at Experian Marketing Services Cross-Channel Marketing full-time for more than 3 years

ProsIntelligent and eager individuals working hard on all their accounts. Great teams and a lot of collaboration.

ConsOutsourcing jobs to Costa Rica, disconnected upper-management, confusing decisions on promotion

Advice to Senior ManagementClients (and Experian middle-management) will not enjoy having their key contacts outsourced

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Fast-paced, team-oriented, decent pay, you'll never get promoted

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Experian Marketing Services Cross-Channel Marketing full-time for more than a year

ProsPlenty of opportunity to learn new things. The corporate culture is very team-oriented, everyone pulls their own weight (which is very hard to come by) and everyone is willing to help out when a coworker needs it.

ConsSometimes demanding clients and a corporate culture of doing EVERYTHING the client wants, no matter how unreasonable. The company is not doing so well financially right now, so raises and promotions are much harder to come by.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop bringing in mid-level managers from outside. The Account Manager and Senior Account Manager roles are much different from the Client Relationship Manager, Client Partner and Associate Director roles. When someone is hired in as a CP or AD, they have no idea what the work flow of their AMs and SAMs looks like. They make promises to clients that the AMs and SAMs have to carry out, without understanding what that means to their junior-level employees.

Second - stop harping on how broke the company is. It is very clear that no one is going to get a raise, a promotion, or a full bonus. This is terrible for morale.

Great Place to Start Career

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Experian Marketing Services Cross-Channel Marketing full-time

ProsGood team dynamics, people are intelligent and definitely room for growth. I would suggest this company to anyone who is a recent graduate and needs to gain some work experience. Experiences vary from team to team, but if you end up with leadership that believes in you, you will be able to learn a lot. `

ConsAs in most office environments there will be politics and you will notice that there are a few individuals who will use their skills in this arena to greater than career than actually being good at the job at hand. Promotions are handed to individuals who are ill prepared for the responsibility and lack the maturity to managed direct reports. There is also a major knowledge gap between teams - some teams are very informed versus others need a lot of hand holding.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep your employees well informed about where the company is headed, it will alleviate a lot of the office politics and drama that is floating around.

Lack of clear strategy from senior management but overall, an ok company to work at where one can learn alot.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at Experian Marketing Services Cross-Channel Marketing full-time for more than 3 years

ProsIf on the right team, lots of opportunities to learn and develop. Mostly filled with young people so the atmosphere is fun and casual.

ConsThere is a lack of resources in the Technology dept. IThere's also alot of shuffling people around as well as turnover of managers.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement can do a better job with communicating the business strategy. I would also like to see them improve the leadership skills amongst senior and upper management.

Overall positive experience, but with the new changes being implemented that's about to change.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Experian Marketing Services Cross-Channel Marketing

ProsRelaxed atmosphere. Good peer relationships.

ConsThere have been many changes implemented recently which don't seem to make much sense. Also, there seems to be too many levels of management.

Was great, got worse!

Software Development Manager (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at Experian Marketing Services Cross-Channel Marketing full-time for more than 5 years

ProsExcellent benefits, great vacation package. Salaries are pretty good too

ConsExperian beaurocracy came into play and layers of management piled on top of the folks who actually did the work. Managers have no clue what's going on below them anymore, and are managing to some high level directives above them -- that they don't communicate downward.

Was better when the old Cheetamail folks still had some control.
