    Change is the only constant

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsEMS is part of Experian which is a really great company to work for. I am proud to have Experian on my resume. Experian is the kind of company where people have invested their entire careers. By that I mean it's not uncommon to meet people with 25-35 years.

ConsRight now we're going through a period of transition in EMS. This too shall end. Experian, and by extension EMS, is large & matrixed company with complex structure. It's not for the faint of heart. But if you're comfortable navigating corporate culture and politics then it's not an issue.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore top down communication would help with morale in the individual offices.

Great people, good management and plenty of opportunities

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsI've worked at this company for 15 years and see no reason to look elsewhere. Hard work and loyalty is valued and reward. It's a strong company filled with great people who really care about what they do. Senior management is very accessible. The company supports a great work-life balance.

ConsThe marketing services industry is changing rapidly and at times the company seems to struggle to keep up. At the same time, there is not always sufficient time given to allow key changes to take effect. There seems to be some difficulty in developing and maintaining an effective long-term vision for the company.

Talented employees, great comp & benefits, struggles with long-term vision

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsPlenty of opportunity for professional and personal growth. Great compensation and benefits packages. Management clearly recognizes importance of work/life balance for employees, so ideal environment for individuals seeking stability and decent work schedule (for the most part).

ConsCompetitive comp and relatively stable job security begets a long-tenured staff and seasoned management (people stick around for great jobs), but unfortunately it can also foster complacency and risk averse leadership.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe organization still has a great set of products and services, but its position in the marketplace will be tested over the next five years. Continue to invest and innovate or be prepared to cede market share to more nimbler competitors.

    Glory days may be over

    Account Manager (Current Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsSalary was competitive, flexible working arrangements, if you work hard you are recognized for it, great HR organization that is always trying to engage employees. If you were lucky enough to land one of the nicer teams, your working day would be pleasant and everyone on your team would pull their own weight. I felt like people were always willing to teach others and it was a very positive working environment for me.

Cons- Not enough forward-thinking when it came to the tool itself, and now they are slipping behind their competition.
    - Sweet spot for winning big deals was the excellent client service that they provided and now that they are laying off a huge chunk of client services, clients will suffer and I anticipate large accounts will not resign.
    - The application itself needs a lot of maintenance work and we suffered some embarrassing issues that really damaged our reputation with our biggest clients. Issues kept happening over and over again and client services took the brunt of it not only from clients, but then again by losing their jobs because so many big accounts didn't resign with the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on the tech pitfalls and stop punishing people on the front line for things out of their control. Get the product right, listen to your clients and work on repairing the hearts and minds of the people that you've put through a very difficult time lately. We've built great relationships with our team members and with our clients and you've really done a number on all of that with your decisions, including the folks in Costa Rica who are saddened and overwhelmed by what has happened to us in the US.

    Account Manager

    Account Manager (Current Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsWorking at Experian, you will learn a lot. You'll have the chance to hone your time and project management skills. Gain experience working with HTML & data in addition to interacting with clients.

ConsThe cons can vary depending on which team/client you get assigned to. Hours can be long, multiple changes at the last minute with little to no heads up.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement does a pretty good job of balancing the "bad" with the good but there does need to be greater representation from the top.

    Great Place to Work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsEveryone is very helpful and extremely friendly. It is a family orientated envirorment and provides a great company culture. There are several recognition programs and great opportunities to advance within the company.

ConsThere are a lot of organizational changes going on at the moment. Some people may be worried about job stability.

    Great people, good place

Associate Director, Client Services (Former Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsThey're able to attract great brands to work with. You're empowered to make decisions. There is a high level of trust in employees. It's also a great place to start a career in digital marketing. You'll be exposed to a lot even at the entry level.

ConsDifficulty making decisions about the future. Myopia has keep the company behind the pack in the space. Experian seems to be the cause.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake bold moves. Take more risks. Be the start up that made CheetahMail so successful.

I've had the opportunity to move into different roles

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGood people, relaxed environment, youthful, open to ideas and suggestions

ConsGood leaders don't always make good managers. Better systems need to be put in place to onboard new employees - seems like the blind leading the blind in the HR dept

Advice to Senior ManagementMake the sales goals attenable so that people can actually make their bonus or people will exit quickly.

Good first job out of college

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsGreat first job out of college, everyone is young, office is laid back and casual, reasonable hours if you are good at time management, overtime for lower level employees, fun social events and free food. Good experience working with clients. Good amount of vacation days and you can sometimes work from home.

ConsThe account manager and senior account manager jobs can feel like monkey work, it is a lot of cut pasting. Promotions are based on who shmoozes the best and not on who is actually knowledgeable. There are competent people who never get promoted and completely incompetent people who never get fired.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop outsourcing everything to other countries and start promoting internally. Noone likes to see outsiders take the promotion that they should be up for without any explanation as to why.

Great place to work - demanding but fair

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsExperian's dedication to Client Service excellence has made this both an easy and tough place to work. Easy since we get to put ourselves in our clients' shoes on a regular basis, and tough since we always go the extra mile. This industry also demands that you constantly grow, develop and adapt - the company has made it easy to do all those things.

ConsWork/life balance is the toughest thing here. Our industry is online 24/7, and often the workload reflects that.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake care of your greatest asset - your dedicated workforce. Continue to offer career opportunities from within the company, and stay true to Cheetah values.
