    Pros

    Benefits are good and stable employment even though recent competition is a slight threat.

    Cons

    - Highly political environment between Engineering and Web Development. Risky but potentially lucrative development projects handed off to web development. If the projects are seen as a success, Engineering will bury web dev and move forward on those projects and take all of the credit. This happened on several major company changing initiatives.
    - Promotions based on cultural background and favoritism. After working on several game changing projects, working nights and weekends, winning several rewards and working at the company for over 6 years, never promoted once while others who did maintenance work were promoted to expert and consultant level.

    Advice to Management

    Stop burying good workers for your own political and company gain. I have seen too many good dedicated employees leave because of this.

    Get to the root of the technology issues instead of trying new technologies in hopes this may help speed the process up and boost profitability

    Pros

    There are some really wonderful product managers at this company.

    Cons

    This company doesn't care how they make the bottom line and they care little about people. They love to do reviews to make themselves look like a nice place to work but it is smoke and mirrors. They care only about the bottom line and they don't care how they get there as long as the money shows up in the right column. They overwork people and it is common practice for people to ask (when they have left the company) how long did you last there...giving the impression that lasting a long time at the company is something of a feat.

    Advice to Management

    * Create a "real" team environment in Experian. This does not exist across BU's today.
    * pay attention to your middle management - you might be surprised what they are actually doing.
    * really listen to your employees and do something about it after you listen to them
    * Get rid of the channel conflict - there is way to much of it
    A company that has happy employees has better sales and ultimately a better company.

    Cons

    Management and supervisors look out for eachother. So there is no advancement besides people they choose. Promotion is based on being liked and not skill.
    They have so many lawsuits, sexual harassment, discrimination, fmla and sadly HR takes the manager and supervisors side if you file a complaint. (They have a tight close unit)
    The experian brand cheats there customers with the $1 trial every call is a upset member demanding refunds and we are trained not to give any refunds
    This job does nothing for natural talent, it will drive you crazy...

    Advice to Management

    Care about your employees and job instead of friendships

    Corporate needs to do undercover boss

    Pros

    No weekends Vacation Sick Time

    Cons

    No recognition no matter how hard you try. Lazy employees get paid the same or more as hard working employees, who never call in sick. Management recognizes employees whom they like not employees that get the job done. Less qualified people promoted to positions, while qualified applicants are told they need more experience.

    Advice to Management

    Stop playing games. no one cares about Kentucky Derby or Dance off. Pay a decent wage based on experience. Stop holding qualified hardworking employees back because you don't like them.

    Encourage back stabbing culture to get ahead

    Regular purging of employees
    Poor Executive Management - most came from the banking industry and have kept their failed policies

    Advice to Management

    Enough of the employee surveys that are always manipulated to look like everyone is so happy to work for Experian. Open your eyes and see what kind of environment you have created. There are no team players. People are only looking out for #1. Create an honest culture without cronyism and watch the company flourish.

    Pros

    You get paid
    Healthcare
    Better than working with the security or facility department

    Cons

    Prepare for long hours

    Taking time off is frowned upon

    Email box will be full everyday with new request to fix or solve problems with solutions that will be ignored

    Being laid off is common. In fact one building they own is empty and the one we work in is less than half full.

    Advice to Management

    Smell yourselves every once and a while, it isnt roses I smell.

    Pros

    Salary/bonus structure are competitive.
    Most people are nice, friendly and pleasant to work with.
    Campus is clean, nice and up-to-date.
    Most people in functions other than IT and finance seem to be content.

    Cons

    Company is very political. Kissing up to VP's is the key to get ahead.
    Company's growth is driven by acquisitions, off-shoring (Chile/Costa Rica), importing IT consultants from India, and moving jobs to lower wage states such as Texas and Arkansas.
    Finance and IT are seen by management as overhead and not as key partners.
    Finance is chronically understaffed in corporate and most business units (with the exception of the overstaffed semi-autonomous Consumer Direct business unit).
    Finance upper management is completely out of touch with the work "in the trenches".
    Managing up and sucking up are key to success. Coaching and development of staff is give lip service but is not really done in practice.

    Advice to Management

    Management should focus on long term planning instead of constantly focusing on the next quarter. Layoffs, offshoring, and understaffing will hurt the company in the medium and long term.

    Pros

    Good benefits, very financially stable, great teammates

    Cons

    To start with, this is not a technology company - this is a marketing company where technology is treated as overhead resource. Everything is driven through (unrealistic) deadlines where software gets shoved out of the door at all costs (both human and enormous technical debt). Enormous amount of bureaucracy where it takes weeks of "following the process" to make a two line code change. Outdated technologies and tools (or more often no tools at all) - complete lack of automation with trivial tasks. VP's have no authority to make no-brainer decisions. Everything has to be approved by CTO who lacks technical understanding yet constantly gets involved in the "weeds". You'll be losing your skills (and brain cells) here very quickly.

    Advice to Management

    Empower mid-level management to make no brainer decisions (and hold them accountable for the results). Change the culture of "all the responsibility with none of the authority". The company can't scale where one man makes every decision.

    Pros

    Good benefits and time off. The building is clean. There is a good level of interaction and cohesiveness between your coworkers at your same level. For me the commute is easy.

    Cons

    Lack of room for growth. Poor judges of talent. Cannot see the forest through the trees management. Group think atmosphere. Qualitative and quantitative expectations not based on real world scenarios and situtations. It feels as if team leads and supervisors look down on those the manage.

    Advice to Management

    Open your eyes and look in the mirror. Listen to employees instead of becoming defensive. Stop being dishonest with employees.
