    I worked at Experian

    Pros

Large company with good benefits. Good career growth potential if you are working for one of the profitable and growing business units such as Consumer Direct or the digital marketing space; be prepared to put in many, many hours.

    Cons

Senior leadership spend a great deal of time and energy focused on pleasing the analysts from quarter to quarter. Marketing Services has experienced numerous layoffs which makes for a distrustful environment from an employee perspective. Senior leaders tend to treat employees like a disposable commodity while retaining their own executive perks such as first class air travel, company cars, bonuses and stock options.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This year the 401 K match will be suspended for employees. What have you given up?

I have been working at Experian

    Pros

Global company with many acquisitions over the past few years that open up other career choices. Potential to become a worldclass company given the data assets and analytical capabilities. Understands the need to expand into emerging markets as traditional revenue streams level off in mature markets. Many offices geographically to work from, flexible tele-commuting options. Few competitors could match what Experian has to the potential offer.

    Cons

Internal battles that take focus off the competition. Lack of investing in new product development and radical R&D that could help enter new markets and revenue streams. Some system limitations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to invest in upgrading talent, retaining the best people, promoting internally, and invest in new product development that will help Experian be less tied to the banking industry.

I have been working at Experian

    Pros

The company is large and becoming more global and I see more opportunities opening up in the next 5 years. There are some new leaders that have solid plans to grow the company and its people.

    Cons

They tend to be bottom-line focused rather than employee focused but I think that balance is in the process of changing. There has not been enough effort made to differential the high performing employees from the average or below average performers and to compensate them accordingly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to retain your best people, you need to help them and give them career support. You also need to have a policy of promoting from within. You need to train or get rid of the small but visible group of people who are underperformers and make work more difficult for the majority of hard-working people.

    I worked at Experian

    Pros

Experian's senior leadership if very strategic and future-focused. They look far down the road in order to put business strategies in place today that will help keep the company profitable in lean times.

    Cons

Depending upon your position, opportunities for career and professional growth can be somewhat limited. There is not as much focus on developing existing employees with good potential as there is on recruiting from outside for a desired skilll set.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more in those existing Experian employees with great potential to take future leadership roles. Try a mentoring program or department rotation program for those employees recognized to have potential to lead the company so that you can continue to position Experian for the future.

Great place to start your career, amazing people, young environment and investment in employees.

    Cons

Very red tape-y, things more very slowly, dated technology

I have been working at Experian full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Excellent package, great extra's, that's the least of my pro's, the atmosphere and general supportive culture is outstanding. Great place to work. The interview and the process that followed was excellent.

    Cons

The overall recruitment process was excellent, however a little slow, the upside is that I was kept informed all the way through.

I have been working at Experian full-time for more than a year

    Pros

People - feels like you're working with like minded adults!
Pay - if you work hard then there is ample opportunity for extra income and advancement
Travel - plenty of opportunity to travel if in the right role
Trust - My experience is that employees are given a high level of autonomy

    Cons

American Centric - sometimes it feels as if the U.S. comes first
Letting good staff go - too many talented people in lower positions have been let go in cost cutting exercises

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do what most management should do, be more: accountable; approachable; reflexive; employee focused; adaptable. Team building should feature more, as should subsidisation for staff events (nights out etc).

I have been working at Experian full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good place to work and learn. Travel opportunity, great work environment, social package included. Annual leave is 25 days, more than the usual 20 days in other companies. Sometimes work is under pressure but mostly it's calm and does not require staying late.

    Cons

Opportunities for growth are not much. Normally growing requires moving to another office in another country. Salaries and bonus schemes are lower compare to similar companies.
