Former Employee – worked at Exterran
Pros – People, Middle Management, Good cohesive teams.
Cons – Upper Management, too many investment bankers making rash decisions
Advice to Senior Management – Get people who know the business not investment bankers.

Current Employee – been working at Exterran full-time for more than a year
Pros – My coworkers were fun to work with and my supervisor was flexible and reasonable. I learned a lot working with the other teams.
Good place to start, not a good place to build a career.
Cons – No mobility within the company. Management smiles and nods with palpable apathy toward employee input.
Raises and promotions are far and wide. Benefits are mediocre at best.
Large projects are rushed and result in a lot of contractors being hired on at a moment's notice with no input or participation from tenured employees.
Advice to Senior Management – It costs more in both money and lost productivity to hire and train new employees rather than throw a little more toward your current ones. Lack of employee input in projects makes working at Exterran feel like an exercise in futility and frustation, as employees lose out on career building opportunities.

Current Employee – been working at Exterran full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – It may be a large organization but you can get to know a lot of people and make many professional connections.
Cons – There are times when I find upper management's incompetence annoying. They hire people from overseas rather than people from America. Want to move up the ranks?...it probably won't happen.
Advice to Senior Management – Get your act together. Your best are leaving.

Current Employee – been working at Exterran full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Great opportunity to grow, nice people to work with, easy flexible enviroment.
Cons – Exceptional great employees does not get compensated for what they worth. They are keep at low salaries and eventually leave the company with all the knowledge.
Advice to Senior Management – Look at those employees that you will rehire them if they were on the street looking for job, and re adjust their salary to the current market.

Current Employee – been working at Exterran
Pros – -Exterran really cares about it's customers.
-They area family friendly.
-They love what they do.
Cons – -It's a shame that Exterran has decided to hire outside the company rather than within. The persons who have been hired for upper management positions have added a greater burden to the regular employees because they have no idea what they are doing.
-They also hurt moral by not allowing for basic perks. For example, for some reason they hold off on bonus' and raises until after the holidays.
-Upper management is so disengaged that they are too busy to make an apprearance at the annual family picnic they host.
-Stocks are low...and so is moral.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop hiring folks that are your pals and start hiring the folks who have given their all to you...your employees.

Current Employee – been working at Exterran
Pros – Great office environment. The building itself is nice to work at. Management are competent at what they do and company events are great to mingle with one another.
Cons – There is much work needed for the management to walk the talk and really make the whole headquarter work like a team. They also needs to figure out increase the depth of work to empower people to do more.
Advice to Senior Management – treat everyone like a valuable asset in the company. The company will receive the reward. It starts by making new employee feel welcome and make field worker feel important.

Former Employee – worked at Exterran
Pros – The domestic and international experience is probably the best reason to work for Exterran. Don't expect much of an offer though. I would recommend entry level engineers to work for a couple of years there. After a couple of years, I would recommend taking your valuable experience else where.
Cons – Low pay and raises where always an bummer. The buddy buddy management is scary.
Advice to Senior Management – Take better care of your employees.

Former Employee – worked at Exterran full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Very multi-cultural environment, tons of learning opportunities available, good atmosphere - employees work well together.
Cons – advancement opportunities are limited, multiple management positions (example, manager, senior manager, director, supervisor, - made communication difficult sometimes)
Advice to Senior Management – Be more understanding of the human element of your workers, even though it is a business. Also, communicate better and promote from within.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
