    Pros

    * Interesting technology with cool applications * Many nice people * Good life/work balance (at least in my group) * Could work at home when needed (at least in my group) * Flexible start/end times (at least in my group) * Creativity is welcome * Room for professional growth

    Cons

    * Management could be difficult and was not always reasonable * Poor communication between managers and employees * Many two-faced people * Lack of information sharing - this made it difficult to complete projects * Lack of clear planning * Compensation could be better

    Advice to Management

Develop a plan and stick with it, unless it makes actual sense to change it. Be open with employees. This will help morale. Pay people what they're worth.

I worked at FLIR full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Technology development and operations staff are all very dedicated to their jobs and do as much as they can to advance the brand of the company. Products cover a vast range of implementations which allows for a good range of tech and disciplines.

    Cons

As part of a division that was bolted on after an acquisition, I found myself lost in the increasingly complex organizational structure. There was very little direct input to the top of the organization which was on the other side of the country. Vision for growth seemed very short-sighted and only focused on iterative product improvements and not adventuring into anything they weren't already field leaders in.

    Advice to Management

Be more proactive in creating an open strategic focus and avoid adopting a large conglomerate structure linked through a long line of acquisitions.

    Pros

Family- oriented environment, good working culture. As an Any company, it is a bright, smart engineers and a lot of lazy, ballast people.

    Cons

Poor management, favoritism, a.s kissing, salaries were frozen for the most of people , but not all, raises miserable,

    Advice to Management

    Start to manage

I worked at FLIR full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nice people and great customers make the work worthy. It was great making products that save lives. I'll miss the close connection with the customers.

    Cons

Many talented people are left to stagnate in their jobs because some in management do not plan for away ahead for them. If you do a good job, some managers do not want to move you up because then they will have to replace you.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your staff!

I have been working at FLIR full-time

    Pros

Employee stock purchase plan, decent benefits, decent pay. Not a bad work environment. Good products overall, especially if you are into optics, thermal imaging, etc.

    Cons

Poor intra-company communication. Management promotes incompetents. Company caters to the stock holder above anything else. Employees come second.

    Advice to Management

Focus on communication. Don't just talk about it—lead by example. Don't just send a company email. Talk to all your employees one-on-one and find out what they're thinking. Address employee concerns at meetings. Let employees know that their thoughts and concerns are being heard.

I have been working at FLIR full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Interesting Products, Challenging but enjoyable Work Environment, Low key workplace, Work/life balance is good. Hands on Employees are very talented, Most employees are great to work with.

    Cons

Same problems year after year. Ineffective Manager/ Directors, Poor Communication & Planning, Understaffed and overburdened. Few opportunities for growth, small raises and bonuses unless you are upper management. Every quarter is a struggle, but we make revenue. Upfront work, Quality and Reliability is not a priority. Healthcare costs are high for such a large pool of employees.

    Advice to Management

Level the playing field and treat employees fairly and the result will be amazing. You know the main problems, Fix them please.

    Pros

good pay and benefits. medical dental 401K matching. with plenty of paid days off. some promotions available. good work environment, and great people to work with.

    Cons

company is very bureaucratic. FLIR likes to hire family of management and dismiss veteran employees who know their jobs. Management really needs to realize that lower level employees matter also. If you are not part of the managers social group you won't get promoted.

    Advice to Management

Treat your seasoned employees better than the relatives just out of college that you hire.
